Glad to see this stall still standing after so many years, first time back in 5 years and lady boss still remembers me. I frequented this stall before my first review lol

Now having had more than a few Stellar prawn mees from everywhere, I've got to say, objectively, this is a decent bowl but not stunning. The soup was q sweet from crustaceans and it's very clean. The meepok was overdone but I guess it's quite interesting that the sambal is paired with tomato sauce.

Don't get the big prawns though, you don't get pork plus u have to peel. It's not very big either

However subjectively, this tastes like nostalgia and I really missed the nice lady boss haha.

PSA hokkien mee isn't available now, there's at least a 2 month wait, after which there will be a big piece of paper announcing its return. So don't make a trip down for their hokkien mee anytime soon

For starters, Huat Heng Fried Prawn Mee at Shunfu Market does a pretty darn good version of it. As a regular at the stall, I’d recommend ordering the Mee Pok or Mee Kia version for a slightly different take on the usual “boring” Yellow Mee.

The lean pork was fresh enough and the prawns were relatively huge la. What REALLY got me was that they were already DESHELLED for us. (Starts the day off well tbh).

The star of the show was the super GAO GAO(thick and concentrated) broth to go along with the dry noodles. You can literally imagine the hot simmering pot of soup at the back of the stall, rich with prawn shell essence and the many flavourful spices that help to zhng up the broth, just with one sip.

Really one of the best Hokkien mee I’ve eaten, esp if you’re one who likes those with more zhap(gravy)!!

When this is available on certain days only, you can only beat the lunch crowd to buying it first. From the time they moved from Lake View Hawker Centre to Shunfu Mart, the taste remained familiar to me: nice. Perhaps also the first stall I bought fried Hokkien prawn noodles from.
