Hup Hup (Block 80 Circuit Road Market & Food Centre)

Having been around for more than 50 years with carefully curated recipes passed down for generations, @huphup.co dishes are the perfect comfort food on a rainy day, from 𝐌𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐚𝐦 to 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐬𝐚 and 𝐋𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐞.

As for 𝐋𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐞, the bowl of noodles was drenched in a thick, starchy gravy and topped with a heap of ingredients such as slices of braised pork belly, ngor hiang, fried fishcakes and a split hard-boiled egg. I particularly like the braised pork belly which was tender and flavorful with a firmness to it.

Giving their 𝐌𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐚𝐦 a try, I realised their gravy tastes a little different from the usual, which suits my palate really well. It’s creamy due to the addition of fresh coconut milk and has a strong savoury peanut fragrance. The generous bowl of vermicelli noodles was topped with beansprouts, fried beancurd and a hard-boiled egg on the side. Squeeze a little lime juice into the bowl of Mee Siam for a refreshing lift!

Ranked as one of the Top 10 Mee Siam in Singapore, Hup Hup (合合) has been around to delight Singaporean tastebuds for over 50 years.

The gravy here is on a sweeter note and although it does come with the familiar twang of sour and spicy too, it is light enough to be slurped up on its own.

Apart from their signature Mee Siam, they do serve up delectable bowls of Laksa and Lor Mee too!

Got the very last bowl when I arrived at 12:17pm, so happy because I got to eat Mee Siam 😆 This Mee Siam right here, I like it too. The gravy has a thick coconut & nutty flavour to it.

Even without considering the delivery factor, the gravy of the 𝐋𝐨𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐞 🥢 was top notch! Unlike most other places where the gravy gets too watery after mixing, this gravy stayed perfectly gooey and sticky til the last drop 🤤
Also, they’re not kidding about the spiciness 🥵 My weak spice tolerance failed me, but I still kept finding myself reaching for more
