Matcha No. 1 (exclude service charge - $4.80) is less bitter (see light green colour)and more sweetness (due to add more milk) into the ice cream. Worth it for trying first time in the variant of between Matcha No. 1 and No. 2 for intensity in terms of taste (from sweet to bitter) and colour (from light to dark green). Cannot wait for trying Matcha No. 2 Served in takeaway cup, cone (additional - $1) and pottery bowl.

Pretty good, but in my opinion a tat too pricy. ($6)

Mad matcha craves for like 2 weeks so got my matcha fix at Hvala ☺️
Tried the Matcha cake (~$7.80)🍵, layers of matcha cake, cream and cookie crumbs (?? Not sure if that’s what they are but seemed like it) 😋 Cake was soft and moist, and cream was slightly sweet but not losing the strong matcha taste! Crumbs were so goooood, slightly salty and adding texture to the soft cake/cream, as a matcha fan I love this sooO much 😍
Hojicha ice blended (~$6) didn’t taste dilute or get diluted, roasted matcha taste was super evident but not bitter! .
Tried the waffles on ice cream previously and didn’t really like the waffles since they were too hard and stale-ish :-(

Probably known as the ultimate hipster tea spot, this cafe definitely holds its own when it comes to tea-centric beverages and cakes. Rich and dense, their fragrant Goma cake ($7.80) is a must try. For something less sweet, opt for the Mont Noir ($7.80), a twist on the classic mont blanc. Matcha-lovers go straight for the moist Matcha Cake in a jar ($7.80) where layers of matcha cream and crumbly matcha cake come together for a matcha overload. Wash it all down with their wonderfully silky Matcha Hojicha Latte ($6).

The belgium waffles comes by default with a scoop of hokkaido milk or matcha gelato. The matcha is matcha no.1 though. I would definitely suggest topping up for matcha no.2/no.3 at $1/$2 respectively, because the belgium waffles themselves are sweet, so the greater intensity and bitterness of the higher level matcha gelatos balance out the sweetness better😊

I loved the tastes of the belgium waffles. Slightly sweet and buttery, but not so much of a fan of the texture, which was a little too soft for my liking

Note: matcha sable crumbles and extra waffle are self add ons from the usual trio of mini waffles 😊

My favourite dessert currently has got to be their matcha cake in a cup, but fans of hojicha are also not neglected, because theres also the hojicha version!

Similarly, this cake in a cup features hojicha and purely hojicha. Layers of hojicha-infused sponge, hojicha cream and hojicha crumbles.

Found this better definitely for sharing because it is significantly sweeter than the matcha version, and may get too cloying and heavy if you're having it alone 😅

Exclusively available at the CHIJMES outlet together with other pastries and desserts only!
