When (almost) everything here at Hvala had something to do with tea, it made absolute sense to order something that was both tea and beautiful. I mean, the moment as I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted by tea apparatus at their bar counter, igniting some kind of inner zen in me.

So the most attractive dessert in the display chiller was this Genmaicha Azuki cake-in-a-jar Matcha-misu (S$8.80), which was made of layers of Genmaicha mousse, sponge cake, Azuki paste, green tea crumbs and a sprinkle of roasted rice bits. Among all the layers, the Azuki paste was the most dominant flavour, followed by the roasted rice bits. Yet, the strong flavours were balanced out smoothly by the Genmaicha aftertaste, making this dessert less overwhelming, especially with a cup of hot brew tea to go along.

This was one sinfully good cake. So dense, fudgey and chocolatey. I wouldn't recommend ordering this cake alone even if you absolutely LOVE chocolate and have a high tolerance for sweet stuff because you'll probably find yourself getting a little sick from the richness of the chocolate. A few mouthfuls and I was already feeling super "heaty"๐Ÿ˜น๐Ÿคญ However, if you have fellow chocolate lovers with you, this is one cake you'd definitely have to order.

@hvala_sg has launched a NEW beverage, joining the likes of their Matcha, Hojicha, Matcha Hojicha and Genmaicha latte ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿต

This spacious cafe is for big-time matcha lovers! Both the matcha latte and matcha hojicha latte were thick and solid, while the matcha cake in a glass was rich and heavy. The Mont Noir (black sesame tart) was nice but the Belgium waffle was too sweet for my liking. It came with a scoop of either matcha or Hokkaido milk ice cream. Suggest to go with the bitter matcha 2 ice cream to balance the sweetness.

Matcha No. 1 (exclude service charge - $4.80) is less bitter (see light green colour)and more sweetness (due to add more milk) into the ice cream. Worth it for trying first time in the variant of between Matcha No. 1 and No. 2 for intensity in terms of taste (from sweet to bitter) and colour (from light to dark green). Cannot wait for trying Matcha No. 2 Served in takeaway cup, cone (additional - $1) and pottery bowl.

Pretty good, but in my opinion a tat too pricy. ($6)
