Paid 23 for dry cake and horrible drinks.
Please don’t come....

best matcha latte in SG that brings starbucks matcha latte to shame.
we tried the iced hana matcha ($13.80++) and hot yuki matcha ($5.80++)

tbh, i don’t rly taste much difference between the two despite the vast difference in price.
for both, matcha was thick, aromatic and rly smooth. was slightly skeptical abt replacing milk with oat milk. however, boy i was wrong. hvala uses barista edition Oatly oat milk, making the latte extremely creamy! after trying the oat latte once, i was immediately sold and became an oat latte convert. i was so hooked by this combi i needed to have this drink weekly (ordered yuki matcha subsequently).

hvala truly serves the best matcha and it’s the ONLY place i’ll go to for matcha beverages as i know, satisfaction will always be guaranteed.

Fell in love with @hvala_sg ‘s matcha when I first tasted it at @chijmes.sg outlet. Love their Zen ID and vibe; making the tea tasting experience very calm and soothing #moodlifter

For those who are lactose intolerant, good news! The drinks served at the Keong Saik outlet uses Oatmilk by default. Which is a healthier choice for me and vegan friendly too!

The aroma of their matcha is out of the world! Price is a little on the high but totally worth it, for premium ceremonial grade matcha! I wish I could drink this everyday! 🥰

🍵 I love you so matcha

In traditional tea ceremonies in Japan, premium Matcha powder would be freshly-whisked on order and served in a tea bowl.

And that was what enjoying the ceremonial-grade Hana Matcha (S$10.80) would look like. Unlike the usual Matcha, this one had a subtle umami aftertaste and a creamy texture, suitable for those who might not like prominent bitter notes.

To fully immerse yourself into the zen state of tea, I guess it would be best to get this when the restaurant was least crowded. Despite being a three-storey shophouse, business was definitely booming here during weekends, and all the noise made by loud guests might just not bring you anywhere close to peace.

After a long walk, finally reached the outlet. It was kinda packed and squeezy on the first floor but when we were led upstairs the ambience was nice.

I really wanted to order the waffles which i saw other customers eating, but on the kiosk machine the option became not available? We were disappointed but ordered something else. We got the Matcha 1 degree gelato (~ $5 to $6 a scoop) which I really enjoyed - did not upset my stomach because it is dairy free! Friend’s matcha latte was too bitter for my liking and hojicha was light and refreshing but just okay to me.

But the worst part is as we were leaving we saw the waitress bring up waffles? Then i asked her and she said it was not available when we wanted to order because the store was too crowded at that time. Hmm I think it is never a pleasant experience to have your customers denied the food they want to eat from the menu and yet see others eat it, with the only reason being that they are less crowded.

Last visited Hvala when they were still a small stall in the basement of 313! Popped by their new Keong Saik outlet on a weekday afternoon and it was a lovely spot to chill for a bit (good to note that they do restrict dining time, even though there were empty tables when we were there). This Matcha Hojicha Latte has whisked matcha with hojicha syrup added. The default uses oat milk, but you can easily swap it out for fresh milk or request for less syrup at the self-ordering system. It was smooth and I enjoyed how you get both the matcha and hojicha notes without them overpowering each other too much. Nice that it wasn’t too sweet either. They also offer this cold at $6.80.
