[CLOSED] Immigrants - The Singapore Gastrobar

* This place has closed :( Please try somewhere else. * Ever wondered what our forefathers ate a hundred years back? At Immigrants, we want to go back to the basics and revive the tastes and flavours that were once familiar to our parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents. Our food menu consists of dishes from the major ethnicities of Singapore – Chinese, Eurasian, Indian, Malay and Peranakan. These small plates were commonly eaten at homes but are fast disappearing today. Each dish has a story to tell and most restaurants either don’t serve them or take the same painstaking effort to prepare them like our chef, Damian D’Silva. We want to reinforce the significance and delicacy of our migrant food culture at Immigrants. We feel that drinking is just as important as eating. Hence Immigrants is the first of its kind gastrobar in Singapore, pairing “tapas” style heritage dishes with an eclectic range of beverages such as interesting craft beers, wines from boutique vineyards and even rare whiskies.

I wonder if I will ever get a chance to eat the fried rice again after Immigrants closes at the end of the month. #sgfood #sgfoodies #burpple It was nice seeing a bunch of familiar faces for the Immigrants last hurrah supper.

chilled century egg tofu ($9+) and house specialty buah keluak ($20+).

Spicy conversations and yummy dishes with @yeyvonne complete a Tuesday. She wanted a taste of local dishes and I showed her chef D'Silva's treasure trove of culinary wonders. Glad she loved it (or was just too polite to disagree). Then again, who could fault this lovely sweet potato leaves fried with belachan, prawn and grated coconuts | #food #foodie #foodpic #foodporn #foodvsco #spicy #prawn #vegetable #vscocam #vscofood #vscogrid #vscocamsg #vscocollections
