[CLOSED] Imperial Indulgence

Thinking of where to jiak holiao during the weekend? Perhaps it’s time to check out @imperialindulgence which is located at Basement one of @chinatownpointsg . This is my first time trying terracotta pastry and I am certainly impressed by the crispiness of the Jingzhou Empress Pastry (故宫皇后饼). The first flavour which I had tried is the Golden Pork flavour which is filled with succulent minced meat which has been marinated for 48 hours! Just by eating the minced meat within the pastry makes the pastry really flavourful.

While around 4 hours later, I decided to try a piece of it cold without heating it up! I was surprised that the pastry itself remains crispy and the Hae Bee Hiam flavour concludes to be one of my favourite out of the four flavours! There are also flavours such as Salted egg chicken floss and gula malacca flavour for those who prefers something sweeter! During our conversation with Roy, he mentioned that he went on a family trip to Jingzhou recently and really enjoyed the pastry itself and decided to learn from the shifus while including a SG version!

In a palace, apart from food, we must not forget having a cup of great drink! Wu Ze Tian Mountain Dates Milk is definitely a drink that goes well with the pastry! It comprises of red dates and natural rock sugar which is a healthier drink as compared to the bubble tea! I have tried the wu ze tian’s jealousy red dates matcha milk and love that the taste is just nice for my non sweet tooth with the natural fragrance from the red dates and rock sugar!

Jingzhou Empress Pastry (皇后饼), a traditional pastry originating from Jingzhou Gongan County (荆州公安县) with over two thousand years of history, since the Warring States Period (475-221 BC). .

Empress Pastry is filled with the most luxurious ingredients and baked in gold clad, marble-lined ovens. @ImperialIndulgence have learnt the secrets of this Empress Pastry making from a Jingzhou shifu (chef) and they have brought forth this traditional art to Singapore! .

Wu Zetian Mountain red date milk which comes in original and Matcha. The sweetness from these drinks come from the red dates and rock sugar. Really love the Matcha one which is not too sweet and it goes so well with their crispy Empress pastry! .

Imperial Indulgence is less than a month old kiosk serving up Jianzhou Empress Pastry in Singapore. This flatbread is handmade from scratch daily with a 1 to 1 dough to meat ratio. And freshly baked upon order to guarantee the freshness of each flatbread.

There are four flavours to choose from: Golden Pork (Bestseller and my favourite), Salted Egg Chicken Floss, Hae Bee Hiam and Gula Melaka (the only sweet flavour).

They even created their own original healthy drink. Wu Zetian Mountain Dates Milk (original or matcha flavour) or Guifei Red Treasures Tea. Made from the natural sweetness of red dates and rock sugar. I’m a fan whenever people tells me it’s from natural ingredients and I’m very impressed by their execution of these drinks. .

The flatbreads are freshly made to order from hand-strech dough, filling and then baked at 300°C terra-cotta urn for two minutes. It's highly recommended for first timer to try their Golden Pork (my favorite of all) that is their best seller which is made from a succulent minced pork cut that has been marinated for 48 hours. With a crispy crust and luscious filling, it will definitely be one of my must have when I am around the area. 😋
