The cake had great flavor and was light and fresh, not too sweet. Wish the cake could be slightly fluffier 😜. Coffee comes only in black r white and white comes only with oat meal. Complimentary cookie

Fluffy coffee sponge with layers of homemade Peanut Butter and Pandan Kaya. Light and not jelat at all.

Nutty fluffy Black sesame sponge with refreshing Yuzu Curd filling... Its light and refreshing good.

In order of preference:

1. Kopi Kaya Peanut Butter: Coffee chiffon cake with kaya and homemade peanut butter. The taste of the PB dominates actually, but I am a PB fan so this is my favourite of the lot. The coffee chiffon is just alright.

2. Sesame Yuzu: Sesame chiffon with yuzu curd. The sesame chiffon taste good with the tangy yuzu curd.

3. Pulut Hitam: Panda chiffon with pulut hitam coated with coconut buttercream. I like the pulut hitam - it is not sweet. Is the pandan chiffon better than eg prima deli’s though? I don’t think so.

Their chiffon cakes are really subtle in taste, the texture of the cakes are alright - didn’t wow me. What makes the cakes special are actually the fillings in between. However, I am not a fan of buttercream in general so that’s one element that does nothing for me.

Meh - will not buy again

Localised to suit our palate, In the Brickyard’s repertoire of ‘Siew Dai’ slices were really good and got the stamp of approval from my picky parents unsurprisingly.

Procuring these cakes were not easy (camping on their site for 2 days) but certainly worthwhile, seeing that we inhaled it all in mere seconds. Delicate and subtly nutty, the Sesame Yuzu Sliced Cake ($7.50) is just the thing if you are looking for a light bite. The hint of earthiness from the sponge and the buttercream coupled well with the contrasting yuzu curd that tasted bright and zingy.

A tad sweeter than the rest I have ordered, the Ondeh Ondeh Sliced Cake ($7.50) was also spot-on in terms of texture and flavour - simply a moist pandan chiffon with creamy gula melaka buttercream, embellished with shredded coconut.
