𝗣𝗼𝗿𝗸 & 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗽𝗼𝘁 ($29.90) — Nice pleasant spice with a bright piquancy. The ingredients were all delicious, particularly loved their juicy and flavourful chicken balls but their pork slices were pleasantly tender too. They also have a hokkaido king crab & scallop hotpot!

𝗪𝗮𝗴𝘆𝘂 𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗸 ($32.90/100g) — Crazy juicy and tender, it released a torrent of decadent beefy flavours that made us swoon, as it melted orgasmically in our mouths. It goes perfectly with a side of alcoholism, especially since they offer a super value-for-money 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹 ($35++/90mins or $55++/ 150mins), selection ranging from beers to highballs to sake.

𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵 ($25.90 for 2 types) was just the Izakaya fishing for compliments on their grilling skills — stunningly well grilled, the crispy outer skin broke open to reveal juicy and soft flaky flesh. Full of flavour with a gentle smokiness, though depending on which variety you get it could be slightly salty.

Dont be deterred by the price at first glance. This bowl comes with a medley of premium ingredients: bluefin tuna otoro, hokkaido uni, negitoro and minced tuna. Everything was fresh and tasty, making this a super value for money bowl. Niningashi is a gem of an izakaya you don't want to miss out on.

Strangely, God made fish reproductive fluids extremely tasty, or I suspect I might be fish-sexual. Shirako (cod milt) even tops Ikura for me as I crave its return yearly.

This 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗺𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘇𝘂 𝘀𝗮𝘂𝗰𝗲 ($19.80) more than alleviated my craving with an overload of blissful silky creaminess, coloured by piquant notes of ponzu. Whereas the Ankimo was decadently rich, flavourful and, whilst not quite melt-in-mouth, swished about my mouth with a luxurious buttery texture.
-
And where better to get this delicacy than at my favourite izakaya, with fresh sashimi at reasonable prices.

Singapore has no shortage of Izakayas, but IMO this newcomer can definitely go toe-to-toe with established names like Nobuya.
-
In true Japanese fashion, their food is high quality, but also priced reasonably. Such as this platter of tuna sashimi ($19.80 for 2 slices/ $29.70 for 3), which was immensely fresh — especially the beautifully rich and fatty otoro, that sensually dissipated when put into the mouth.
-
They also have a free flow alcohol option ($35/90min, $55/150min) for fellow functioning alcoholics to indulge in sakes and highballs along with the food.
