There’s only a small window to dine at this Jalan Sentul favourite – between 6pm to 8pm – and the queues form before the stall even opens for business. But nasi lemak fans listen up, it will be worth the wait. Each plate of nasi lemak is priced from RM2, and the glorious spread of sides that follows is just as affordable. You must have the Dry Pork Curry (from RM2.50), Luncheon Meat (from RM1), Sambal Petai (from RM1) and zesty Ayam Goreng (from RM2.50), and a helping of Stir-Fried Cabbage and Kangkung (from RM0.80 per portion) to hit your greens quota.

The affordable price explains the queue - RM6 for nasi lemak with generous portions of pork rib curry and sambal sotong

As is the trend at many places in Sentul, the snaking queues start at this nasi lemak stall at opening hours — a small window for dinner between 6-8pm. Spot Uncle Loo's setup outside an aquarium pet shop, where he dishes out his Chinese-style nasi lemak spread that's to die for. The Nasi Lemak on its own, is an absolute steal at only RM2, so go ahead and splurge on the variety of mouthwatering sides. You must get the stall's claim to fame, Pork Curry (RM2.80), which features fall-off-the-bone ribs slathered in a brightly spicy sauce. The combination always works with a slice of Luncheon Meat (RM1) or two, to soak up all that delicious curry sauce. If you need more options to mix things up — and why not when it's at such pocket-friendly prices — look to the likes of their piquant Sambal Petai (RM1), Stir-Fried Kangkung (RM0.80) and zesty Ayam Rendang (RM2.80).
Avg Price: RM5 per person

Hard to practice restraint here when there’s a truckload of toppings to choose from. The sambal petai and sweet sambal is a must try. In the event that you find yourself broke and hungry, this ranks right up with just about any other cheap and good eats you have ever eaten.

Nasi lemak is no novelty but these guys whip up some real good deal here. From only RM2 for a solid nasi lemak, it’s no wonder the stall has developed a cult following. I was genuinely surprised when our bill amounted to only RM10.40 for these two overfilled styrofoam packs which included almost everything on the menu?? In the mix were dry pork curry, luncheon meat, fried eggs, stir-fried kangkung and a damn tasty sambal petai. A lot of good flavours going on in our dinner though the rice tastes more muted than you might expect. Still, dinner here is an absolute steal and worth making a beeline for.
