we could really taste the yam and it’s natural sweetness (instead of being artificially sweet). there was a inconsistency in the paste - mostly smooth, with some chunks - but it gave a little bite to the fillings.

in general, the skin can be quite oily by definition of many. however, it’s the soft, chewy, slightly elastic texture of the skin, combined with the generous fillings that draws us back to these, especially if you eat them fresh on that day itself. if kept overnight, we’d recommend to pop inside the microwave with a bowl of water by the side to bring back the texture.

the corn kernels would burst as one bites into it, giving a different twist to the usual fillings. reminded us of a thick corn soup, being slightly savoury-sweet.

filled with juicy, fragrant coconut shreds. though it’s sweeter than the lot, the level was still acceptable for us. it did remind us of kueh dar dar.

compared to the sweet version, the salted mung bean paste wasn’t as smooth and had a more lumpy texture. however, we couldn’t really appreciate this flavour as it was quite peppery and had a slight creamy after taste. maybe savoury akk isn’t for us.

roughly mashed with a slight grainy texture. just the right level of sweetness and fragrance.

One of the better Ang Ku Kueh's around, and they really don't disappoint. I got the peanut ($1), sweet bean ($1), coconut ($1), yam ($1.10) and of course, their premium durian flavour ($2.50). All flavours were good and I especially love the yam and durian flavours. I think the best part is the skin itself, as its super chewy and QQ 😍
