These scarlet treats look simple, but their simplicity is exactly why they are hard to get right. This famous shop though, got their 𝗔𝗻𝗴 π—žπ˜‚ π—žπ˜‚π—²π—΅ ($1.10) mostly right.

Not mind-blowing but this is comfort food, and might just be what some need to tide over these stressful times. But maybe breaking down and crying helps too (PS not a therapist).

I thought the skin had just enough gummy chewiness and it enveloped a generous amount of filling, with a golden skin to filling ratio. Many would gravitate towards flavours like green tea, but their traditional fillings were also great and not too sweet.

These are hands-down some of the best ang ku kueh ($0.90-$1 each) I’ve ever had! Each piece is massive and packed solid with filling. They have a wide variety to choose from and they are just the right level of sweetness! I liked yam and peanut the most, but my favourite part was definitely the chewy & pillowy soft skin!!

Beautifully oiled and bright red skin encased a dense sweet peanut filling. Ji Xiang’s π™‹π™šπ™–π™£π™ͺ𝙩 π˜Όπ™£π™œ 𝙆π™ͺ 𝙆π™ͺπ™šπ™ (~$0.90) held a thin but chewy texture before paving way for a grainy generous nutty inside.πŸ˜›
Their 𝙔𝙖𝙒 π˜Όπ™£π™œ 𝙆π™ͺ 𝙆π™ͺπ™šπ™ (~$1) was delightful, and thANKFULLY the yam paste wasn’t too sweet. It’s commendable how consistent they were with their yam paste: smooth and not too coarse. 🍠

These were great! Skin was soft and chewy, and filling was moist. Got the salty bean, corn and gula melaka coconut. Corn was my favourite! Think this is the only place that makes this flavour

Super fantastic ang ku kueh, the skin was soft and chewy and the peanut filling was rich and moist without being overtly sweet. Even my brother who doesn’t usually eat ang ku kueh loved it! Super affordable at $0.90 each too, cheap and good πŸ‘πŸ»

Came by on a Saturday 1pm. Only these 2 flavors left. I’ve never liked AKKs, simply bcos so many I’ve tried in my childhood were sweet beyond words, and the skin thick and hard. But these were truly divine. The skin was thin and soft. Fillings were abundant and not sweet. Texture was fabulous. Almost creamy and very thick. Quality didn’t drop despite keeping in the fridge overnight and reheating by steaming.
