Look at the beautiful colors. Even with the condiments, the fishy smell was quite strong. I personally enjoyed it, but I guess it really depends your own tolerance for the ‘fishy’ smell. Was pleasantly surprised to find that Jiak is a halal restaurant because the dishes are so chinese. Other dishes I enjoyed were the har jeong gai and the mee goreng. The noodles were not over cooked and super flavorful. I would return to family friendly Jiak again. Do make a reservation, it was fully packed on a Friday night.

One of our mains served at Jiak2gather, a private home dining concept in an old apartment in Joo Chiat. This Tiger/Vannamei Prawn Dry Laksa is lemak enough for us and is delicious. The laksa is not too spicy, yet tasty enough even without any broth.

We were fortunate to reach the restaurant early: it was full house after 6.30pm and people were told that they have to wait at least 30 minutes before there will be seats.

We ordered 2 of their signature dishes: fried mee goreng (pictured) and the claypot chicken. The fried mee goreng was fried with peanut sauce which reminds me of mee rebus. The peanut gravy, wok hei and spicy flavours together makes this dish very delicious and palatable. The claypot chicken was cooked with curried leaves and tomato gravy of sweet and sour pork. Both dishes were outstanding and we definitely will come back for more.

Ya it was kinda spicy but so good. Though felt like there was too much MSG in the soup. Very generous with the lala though!!

Jiak Modern Tzechar is a Halal Chinese restaurant located at hillv2. I think they took over the Indian shop before. Quite a chill place during lunch time and yes, there’s air con!!
Food is a little on the pricey side but tastes pretty ok.

Can try try 🌚👍🏻
Not many places sell Lala so if you’re a Lala lover like me.. 🤤

Average fried rice, it could have been more fragrant and flavourful with a more generous hand with the seasoning. This also comes in large at $10. Portions here were generally smaller so do take note when ordering!

Preferred this dish the most out of all we ordered during our dinner at Jiak. These weren't the best, but the decently fragrant pieces of prawn paste chicken were lightly battered and deep fried to a nice crisp, making up for the other dishes.
