A loaf of rainbow bread (half spread) @ $2.80
Sambal prawn bun @ $1.50
Read bean bun @ $1

The rainbow bread is nice and soft but not sure if it's gimmicky, have to try the plain one and also other flavours to compare. Wanted to eat one on the spot with spread but they didnt allow for single piece spread and eventually they were nice enough to spread half of the loaf for us 😊

The buns were alright, had tried better ones elsewhere before. The read bean one was not bad, the sambal prawn one was not great - the taste wasn't strong and couldnt rly get the shrimp bits.

Might try other flavour of loaves if happen to pass by.

$1.70 rainbow loaf with a scoop of ice cream. No ice cream uncle no problem!

For some reason this bun was more dense than the coco one. The red bean was pure paste (no skin) and was quite hearty, very dense and not too sweet. In comparison mama's red bean bun feels much sweeter. It’s pretty decent but I prefer the coco bun as the bread tasted better!

The bun was v soft and floofy, coco filling was joosy and sweet, I enjoyed it! Might be on par with oishi's coco bun which is one of my fav places for coco buns. Also, it’s great that they didn't use orange sugar. I’m more partial to brown coco filling over orange ones, bc I prefer the gula melaka taste over orange sugar.

Have been wanting to visit this traditional bread bakery for the longest time but it was slightly out of the way. And it didn't help that I was craving for the street stall ice cream with this bread throughout circuit breaker period. But refusing to pay the expensive price for it. A loaf of rainbow / white bread without spread costs $1.7! Total of 8 pieces. Loving the vibrant colour which doesn't give the bread any other further taste. Fluffy bread too! Ate it with the cheapest ice cream from giant. Because this kind of bread is best eaten with the simplest ice cream 🙂

so we found a new bread that we‘re obsessed with & the obsession is so bad that we drove all the way down to tai seng just to get our hands on it.

the rainbow bread at jie traditional bakery had to be the best bread we had these days. it was so soft and fluffy, and i would assume that’s how it would feel like if we were to eat a cloud. also, i loved how it evoked those nostalgic memories of those breakfast i would have when i was a lot younger. we personally liked the bread at the kovan branch more than the one at tai seng which was weird cause we assumed that all the bread shld be baked by the main branch? somehow there’s a bit of crust remaining on the bread we got at tai seng so the sides felt a bit harder and chewier, BUT the middle portion was still so so soft and enjoyable. so i would probably bite off all the 4 corners first then enjoy the part in the middle.

i absolutely love pairing this bread with some @benandjerrysg. it’s almost as if i became my own ice cream man at home (who scooped a disgustingly excessive amount of ice cream on top of each bread)
