Tonite dinner was through estate group buy

Bento Combo Jumbo Set 日式卤鸭, 淉汁便当 (S$10.20)
Came with yam rice rolled into balls, tender braised duck, beancurd, offals, pickled vegetables, and Japanese style runny yolk lava eggs

Braised Duck Noodles (S$4.50)
Selected Kway tiao as choice of noodles.

Soup was packed separately.
Servings was kind of smaller than expected. The pickled vegetables was kind of more salty than preferred. The braised duck slices in the noodle soup has bones, so not boneless.

Decided to try this stall as it’s not common to find a Kway Chup stall that has pig’s ears and tongue- So, ordered one serving of each. Plus, I ordered a large portion of pig’s skin and a small portion of pork belly.
They were all very “fresh” and yummy. Not like those where they’re over-cooked or soaked up in sauce!

Pretty good ingredients - intestines were well cleaned and meats were braised quite thoroughly. The lava ramen eggs were a nice touch! That aside though, we were disappointed that the kway wasn’t as smooth and the dark herbal broth wasn’t as flavourful as it looked. Overall decent, but it didn’t wow us that much.


Wanted to find out whether modernised duck rice lives up to traditional duck rice. I must say they're quite good. I guess what's interesting were the ajitama and hae bee hiam.

Duck rice reinvented. Ordered the Mixed Bento Set ($8.80) with duck and kway chap ingredients. Loved the plating, made it even more appetising. Rice was fragrant, duck was tender and the intestines were braised well. It was above average in terms of taste and I like the innovation, so overall, it was an enjoyable meal.
