Back to jin seng for my pandan chiffon cravings.
Lacking the pandan aroma slightly today but still Soft and nice .
Can’t complain for a 90cents cake .
I think I may have found the best pandan chiffon.
Any better - I’d have to make them my own .
I have tried pandan chiffon cakes from everywhere and found the ones at pure pandan ( now at North Bridge Road ) and yummy chiffon ( Tanjong Pagar mrt ) to be nice but still lacking in the “ good ole taste “ I was looking for. And they were not cheap to begin with .
I usually shy the ones from these confectionary shops because they boast a bright green so green you feel like you could turn neon after eating them . And most are either too stiff or dry or are just sponge cakes in disguise.
The ones from Jin seng are tender and the sweetness level is so mild and comfortable - I guess they were baking for an Older audience at the market . Everything about this pandan chiffon is so good . The cloud like texture , the natural pandan flavour , the comfortable sweetness level .
And of course the price .You can’t get a better deal at 5 dollars .

And they make very good red bean buns too .
