Hands down to this.

The thin skin is really chewy and could hold the ingredients really well. What surprise me is the fried egg they included. Really worth the price of $1.70 and queue of 20minutes.

I’m coming back for this!

not sure if people normally use "fresh" to describe popiah but this popiah sure tasted that way. after the first piece, i felt all warm and fuzzy, and i'm not referring to the heat from the seemingly innocent chilli!! popiah was rly soft tho i would have preferred if there were more peanuts to give it a crunch.

Intrigued by perpetually Long queues at this hidden popiah stall at the back of a coffee shop, I finally had time to investigate.

After a 20 Mins wait , I finally bought my popiah and the next 20 Mins home was another agonising wait because I packed this popiah home.

I must say that the first thing that caught my attention was how well the popiah skin was able to hold the ingredients together without any trace of being soggy even after my trip home. The popiah skin was so QQ and The turnips were so juicy and fresh .

At 1.70 , this was a pretty well filled popiah and portions were generous.

Like what was written on its signboard , this is one truly “ everything homemade” kind of popiah and the sincerity and humility of the food really does come through with every bite :)

Some say this is the best popiah in Clementi, or even Singapore, but is it really the case? I queued for almost 45min the first time I was here so when I saw that there were only 2 people queueing earlier, I just had to jump in, but I still had to wait for 10mins or so :/

Good:
• Chewy skin, in fact it's comparable to Qiji's
• Very juicy turnips which were sweet on their own
• Loved the mild spicy kick from the garlic

Drawbacks:
• There weren't enough crunch, the whole popiah was pretty soft
• Loosely wrapped, and hence the fillings dropped out when I picked the slices up or tried to bite them
• Very, very slow service

Verdict: 3.5/5 (just felt that they weren't really worth the queue)

The queue for this popiah is ALWAYS LONG whenever I'm on the way to 321 Clementi. So when there were only 4 people queuing the other day, I JUMPED IN.

BUT. I still waited for 30 min ☹ as I got closer to the stall owner (this cute elderly lady), I soon understood why. Some would say she's just plain slow, I think she's just taking her time as the world goes by ~ 2 people behind me in the queue left because *time is money* (but good food needs time 💸)

When it was my turn, she started talking to me too (cute), and I found out that she's 73 and has been working here since 1993! Told her I was born in 1995 lol. She really takes her time to make the popiah, cooking small batches of bean sprouts to continuously refill and making sure the filling stays warm. That was some good popiah that took some waiting 👍🏻

Firstly, the filling was delightfully warm. The elderly stall owner even sprinkled the gravy over the popiah after she wrapped it! The amount of filling was just nice, however I think it's one of the sweeter popiahs I've had. The chilli in my spicy popiah was so intense though 😂 I kinda teared

I realize my justification for this popiah is that it's nice and warm haha but it really is delish. I ate like 2.5 popiah by myself! The queue on the other hand... ☹
