From Joo Chiat Chiap Kee
Big portion $4.50 of fishball kway teow soup.
Not bad for those who like it.

There's always a queue at Joo Chiat Chiap Kee which serves the freshest yellowtail fishball handmade in-house daily. The fishball comes in irregular shape, slightly smaller in size with a good bouncy, chewy and springy bite.

Each standard small bowl of noodles comes with 4 fishballs, 2 meatballs and 1 Teochew fish dumpling (herh keow) while the bigger bowl comes with 3 additional fishballs. The noodles are cooked al-dente, tossed in their popular special sambal chilli sauce and topped with crispy pork lard and spring onion 》$3 (small) / $4 (medium)

They are also selling ala-carte fishball/meatball for $2 (10pcs) and fish dumplings for $4 (20pcs). Be sure not to head over too late as I overheard the lady from the stall going down the queue behind us informing customers that their orders would be replaced with more meatballs as their popular fishballs are running out.

Their specialty is their handmade fishballs made from the yellowtail fish, paired with their dry noodle that’s tossed in your preferred sauce and pork lard oil. A very satisfying bowl of fishball noodle that fully justifies its long queue which might drag to around 20 minutes waiting time during lunchtime.

Wanted to come for 133 Mee Hoon Kway but we were too late, so we did what we are all best at: following the long queues! This stall was just one of the many.

Topped up a dollar for 5 more of their handmade yellow tail fishballs cause we didn’t want to regret and end up going through the queue again 😂 Didn’t really like the noodles that were sticky to the teeth and chili concoction that had more ketchup (personal preference) but we’d get the fishball soup again! For the usual $3 noodles, it’s already generous with 4 fishballs, 1 meatball and 1 fish dumpling. Their fishballs were bouncy though not as crunchy, but still tasty with its flavourful soup.

Their homemade fishballs were fresh and bouncy. Their noodles mixed with the chili and pork lard were cooked to a springy texture.

Can you believe this bowl of fishball noodles + the bus ride to bedok and back = still cheaper than 1 plate of mixed rice at my office? (And wayyyyyy more delicious too)

The fishballs were so fresh, beehoon was cooked to perfection, and chilli had a nice kick to it. Now I know why the queue was so long, and boy was the wait worth it. Now if only I could sneak out of office to eat this everyday... #Hawkerpedia
