With over 15 outlets across Klang Valley, here's a household name for a value for money pan mee lunch that will hit the spot. Coming out tops on the menu is the signature Lat Jiu Pan Mee (RM7.80) — spicy, lip-smacking noodles topped with a perfect poached egg. For something a little more soothing, the Herbal Chicken Pan Mee's (RM10.50) soupy goodness is a staple bowl of comfort, particularly on rainy days. Wash your meal down with a tall glass of greenlicious Pandan Cincau (RM4)! Avg Price: RM15

It’s been a while since I had Pan Mee (Hakka-style flat noodle) and the quest to uncovering local food continues at the Damansara Uptown hood. Within walking distance of numerous restaurants and easier on the wallet restaurants, JoJo Little Kitchen is a strong player in the Pan Mee biz. Only a few years old, JoJo has over 15 branches in numerous locations. Serving up signature bowls of textured noodle, fresh greens, anchovies, minced pork meat, and of course, runny poached egg (!). One can choose a variety of styles from traditional dry, soup, lat jiu (spicy), herbal chicken, to curry and fried pan mee. Their Minced Pork Pan Mee (RM7) with thick soy sauce tasted a tinge sweet as with the minced pork. Unfortunately the poached egg came at an additional cost of RM1.50, but it's worth the add-on to your meal!

I don't really like pan Mee, but I cannot resist this fried pork. RM4 for the small portion. Crispy crunchy. They serve century egg dumplings too which is my favourite.

Love this classic pan mee but not the egg, it should be runny. Price is okok

Century egg (pi dan, 皮蛋) is a traditional Chinese ingredients, where duck eggs are preserved with clay, ash and rice hulls resulting in a translucent egg white and alkaline tasting egg yolk. Chinese dumplings (jiao ji, 饺子) are usually made with a mixture of pork and prawn wrapped in dough.

The dumplings here are particularly interesting as they’re stuffed with chunks of century egg. The result is a dumpling which is rich and flavourful with the sweetness of the prawn and the umami from the century egg. Surprised that there isn’t more of this dish around.
