The chunks of charred beef was slightly tough on certain cuts but it goes really well with the South African spicy relish. RM40 per serving.

Chunks of tender marinated pork cooked in a creamy spicy cashew sauce and crispy corn chips. RM30 per serving.

Generous serving of flat bread served with Moutabal and spicy harissa dip. Love the dip. RM20 per serving.

Along quiet-at-night Jalan Kamunting, this trendy resto-bar comes alive with crowds toasting to mezcal while chowing down on delicious Mex-meets-Mediterranean grub. There’s enough space for the whole posse — the tropics-inspired dining area is a long stretch with large tables, plus an al-fresco area for smaller groups. Kick off the night with a punchy cocktail like the Voodoo Old Fashioned (a twist on the classic cocktail made with dark rum, RM44). And when the party is ready to eat, order the Walnut Hummus with Pomegranate (RM20), Pork Carnitas (RM30) and Jamaican Jerk Chicken (RM65) to share.

Tucked along the incredibly quiet at night Jalan Kamunting, the new Mex-meets-Mediterranean Joloko is quite the find. Expect hip, neon-lit vibes in the bar, and lush tropical surroundings in the back. Ordered this as a late night snack. The hummus is wonderful; creamy and nutty with a sweet finish. Was a tad disappointed by the tough, chewy flatbread but I’m hoping it was only cos we went towards closing time!
