Their lunch set for 2 at $68 was a good offer with choices from each category of their menu, plus free-flow drinks. Ala carte top-up still available but the set was satisfying enough since portions were still the same as ala carte order.
Selected soup bases available under the set though we wished BKT was included too. Nonetheless, laksa and Tom Yum soup would be recommended for an alternative to the Jpot superior broth. Few items on our must-order list included their fried beancurd skin (rolls), really fresh prawns, fresh fish maw and cheese pork balls.
Finally, the part we loved about Jpot would be the spread of sauces and garnishing to pick and mix from their self-service station.

As part of this special day, JPOT has launched one of our iconic local favourite - Chilli Crab Set ($52 for 2 pax where you can enjoy LIVE crab, their assorted signature ingredients such as LIVE prawns, home made fish balls and so on with their R&D Chilli Crab Soup base ($19.80 if you order separately) 🦀
The exciting part is you get to create your own Chilli Crab sauce where a separate cornstarch and egg will be served together. So one price, 2 ways of eating! 😏
Available only in August, so don't miss it! 🇸🇬

Thereafter, you can actually transform the soup into our local Chilli Crab dish with deep fried man tous. One of the best ways to celebrate NDP 2017 🎉 .

The Chilli Crab set comes with 300-350g Live Crab and JPOT’s signature ingredients such as the Live Prawns, Hand-
Made Fish Ball, Fish Paste Tofu and Fried Fish Skin. Now, you can have the best of both worlds with Chilli Crab Soup Base and Chilli Crab. The crabs are first bathed in a bright red, sweet yet mild spicy soup base. The fun part comes after your hotpot meal where you can transform the chilli crab hotpot
into a chilli crab dish. You may wish to get any friendly staff for assistance or DIY! Cornstarch is first poured in, followed by an egg, and the soup base (by now a sauce) is mixed thoroughly till it thickens to the right consistency. After a few minutes, you will have yourself a fragrant chilli crab dish. The eggy, sweet, sour & spicy sauce is perfect for savouring succulent crab. The "Man Tous" or Crispy Beancurd Skin sops up the scrumptious and addictive mild spicy and sweet sauce. .

I like their laksa soup base. The fried beancurd skin will absorb the soup and wow!!! Beef short ribs and prawn balls are my definite orders. Marinated chicken and pork, sliced toman fish and mushroom combo round up a very filling no-vege meal.

It's true: queuing up for a table at JPot can be a chore especially during weekends, so the best way to enjoy your personal steamboat pot is to book a table (I used Chope).

And it may seem that each diner is individually given a pot of soup, your friends would probably not mind sharing some of their tasty soup bases available. One tip to share is to consider what ala carte ingredients you want to order before you decide on your soup base (eg. Tau Pok goes well with Laksa soup base, but maybe not so matching with Tom Yum).

Typically most items come in 4s or 6s, but if you are not sure you can always ask the waiters on duty. The table is not very big anyway, so you can always send in a few rounds of food orders so that the food come in small batches. If there are items I will always choose, they will be the Fish Noodles, Homemade Tofu, Pork Belly, Beef Brisket, Deshelled Prawns and Mushroom Combination.

Is ala carte steamboat more expensive than other steamboat buffet restaurants? Well, at any time of the day, my average spending here will be between S$35.00 and S$50.00 per person, and it largely depends on what my accompanying diners will choose. Just take note that time limit will be imposed during peak hours.
