While their dishes might not be refined, they certainly still tasted good.
For XLB, they too offered their rendition of salted egg yolk and chilli crab flavours. Both were tasty in their ways, and the XLB skin was thin and good too.
With a direct comparison, we felt that their pork ribs and fried rice were just as delicious. Their black chicken soup was a comforting dish with a distinct ginseng taste.
So while the dishes were just as good without particularly standing out; dining at Ju Hao was certainly a favourable choice with the competitive discounts available.

Definitely HAO👍🏻 to gather with friends, just like my catch-up with my ‘old’ friend from Sydney! ❤❤❤
.
At JU HAO, you’ll get to enjoy a set meal for $8.80++ on weekdays 11am-5pm, which is a pretty good deal IMO as a normal bowl of noodles here already costs you $8.80++ ala carte. ✔ Essentially u’re getting a free cup of Chinese tea ($1++), 2 sides and a dessert (Gui Ling Gao, $3.80++) for free! ✌🏻
.
There are 2 choices - Special Signature Noodle Set or their Braised Pork Rice Set. One of the side dish differed, which we had the luxury to try both as we ordered 1 set each. 😊
.
Both the silky-smooth cold sliced tofu & crunchy chilled cucumbers with braised peanuts were extremely refreshing! 💕 The sauce was like the chicken rice gravy - savoury with an irresistible fragrance which enhanced the otherwise plain tofu & cucumbers. I LIKED THEM! 😍😍😍 The fried spring rolls were just alright.
.
I had their signature noodles, which was springy with a firm bite. 😋 However, the sauce leaned towards the sweet side, which I would have preferred a savoury taste, just like that of my friend’s Braised Pork Rice!
.
The thinly-sliced pork belly slices were pretty soft & topped with sweet pickled radish (my guess). 🤤 I added lots of their chilli condiment to spice up the bowl. 🔥 Overall, their mains are pretty one-dimensional in terms of taste; nothing impressive.
.
The Gui Ling Gao was good though! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The iconic bitterness of herbs used was prominent but mellowed down by the sugar syrup drizzle & crunchy bits of pear (again my guess). A nice cooling treat to end off the meal! 😋
.
Safe trip back to Paris & all the best for your adventures in Zurich, @natsumi_hh! 😘

Start off with chef recommendation 👨‍🍳& roam freely....👉
👨‍🍳Wanton With vinegar and chilli $7.80
🔸Steamed chilli crab dumplings (6 pcs)$8.50
🔸 Signature noodle with pork wanton $9.50 (value set as one of us like noodle and the other prefer wanton)
👨‍🍳Pork Belly Garlic $8.80 served with chilled cucumber 🤤
Slightly sweet and juicy for dumplings compared to other XLB joints we tried. Don’t miss the chef recommendation dishes we highlighted! Service is great with cozy ambience.

Tried the prawn fried rice. Lacks seasoning as it was borderline bland. Not the nicest of prawns either. Needs the condiments to help (chilli soy sauce vinegar) 3/5

Just when I thot the dumplings were so juicy and delicious, these xiao long baos totally defeated them. Each bag held so much broth that it immediately filled my mouth when I popped one in. The meat was so tender and the soup was flavorful. I loved them!

The noodles were Q and the sauce was vinegary and a little spicy. The star of cos was the fried pork chop. It was cooked just right so it wasn't tough. The sprinkle of 5 spice powder totally killed any foul porky taste and made it even more delicious.
