Happy Diwali!! Feeling the mood more while devouring into this box of sweets from a lesser known shop highly recommended by my Indian colleague. Boy, it was good! Just a teeny bit sweet 😅

They have a whole selection of sweets. Got to check it out if you enjoy rich and dense desserts. I really appreciate the use of spices in Indian sweets, like cardamom, saffron etc.

In my box (left to right) we have the Pista roll, Mawa Peda, Kaju Katli, Sev Barfi. 😍

Pista roll - Kaju Pista roll is an amazing combination of nutty flavors of cashews and pistachios rolled into one. Soft & chewy with an acceptable sweetness.

Mawa peda - Milk fudge favored with cardamom. Insanely buttery, rich, milky and it melts in your mouth! Mawa is a milk byproduct that is thicker than regular milk and has a consistency similar to that of ricotta cheese or paneer.

Kaju katli - Directly translates as cashew slice. The festive treat is a cashew nut and milk based sweet decorated with silver varq.

Sev Barfi - Barfi is a basic fudge from Indian cuisine made of milk, sugar and ghee. This Sev (crunchy noodle made of chickpea flour) barfi is made with unsalted - deep fried crunchy strands of gram flour, milk, unsweetened mava, rose essence, sugar and nuts. This is a House special, was told it is an uncommon sweet and people love the little surprise of a sweet made from sev!

It’s funny how surprised my Singaporean friends are with my knowledge of food haunts in Little India. Introducing them to chaats and rotis!
