Ebi (2pcs) & Fish (2pcs) Curry Don @ $7

Not bad for coffee shop setting just that the rice isn't really Japanese rice. The ingredients are nicely fried and the amount of curry is satisfying.

Not spectacular but good enough for a quick fix for curry don craving especially when it's nearby.

Kimly Coffeeshop at Blk 684 Hougang Avenue 8 is actually a very big food court with lots of food options under one roof.

Kanaaji Katsu is one of the stall serving Japanese cuisine, specialise with their signature katsu menu.

The ebi & fish katsu curry comes with 3 pieces of fried ebi and 2 pieces of fried fish.

The curry was delicious, though wasn’t any special out from it. The fried ebi and fish was crunchy.

Kanaaji Katsu is another new generation hawker stall that’s operating from a coffeeshop along Hougang Avenue 8. As their name suggests, they’re Japanese fried food specialists, but their star attraction definitely appears to be all manner of fried foods with curry.⠀

For just seven buckaronis, I was presented with a honking great big plate of ebi (prawn) & fish katsu curry. The flaky fried fish fillets were titanic in size, and contained slightly less grease than its exterior might suggest. The same went for the portly prawns, which still possessed some of the authoritative snap that is the hallmark of a fresh prawn.â €

The breading was superb, with just enough to produce a deeply satisfying crunch, but not thick enough to siphon up an unpleasant amount of oil. The curry was plenty piquant too, with a pleasant abundance of carrots & onions that many places lack. It’s definitely delicious Japanese food, but nothing so spectacular that it warrants a special trip from the other end of Singapore for.

No son, what makes Kanaaji worth your time are these monumental portions. You’re gonna be pretty hard pressed to get this stuffed on just seven dollars. No cap, chief.

Fancy new hawker stall. I almost never eat hawker Japanese and Korean food, and was scammed by the fanciness lol. Normal overall lor. Their katsu was better than many hawkers, but because they claim theirs uses the rosu cut, and I detected no fat, I penalise them.
