My year 2021 ended with several fun filled dinner with drinks, one I particularly enjoyed happened at this semi-causal Japanese joint. The food was straight forward along with this crowd pleasing sake I picked. I also learnt about SMV and rice polishing ratio courtesy of Google as I chose this bottle.
We had a bottle of sake and a drink each, with about 3 rounds of side food and some rice- that worked out to be $60+/pax. I reckon I would be paying more else where for a similar dining experience.

Portion is just right, lunch sets (mainly all dashi-zuke) are as it is, not much variety like their dinner menu, so fewer drinks, and sides available. Lunch is somewhat crowded, dwindle down by 1pm, good to make a reservation. And be sure to check their monthly special.

Tried the Unagi hitsumabushi set (~$18) and was pleasantly surprised. The eel was thick and grilled nicely. Accompanied with sansai (wild vegetables😍), tofu and condiments.
It's not the hitsumabushi that we know and love at manman or uya uya but decent enough for an unagi lover near Telok Ayer.
Shall try their raw fish sets as that looked more popular when I glanced around.
Not a bad place at all.

Delicious and affordable lunch sets in the CBD! Choose from a variety of sets like sashimi, salmon and chicken. Presentation is 💯

- Salmon Don🍣

Oishi~! Lunch set that comes with the sides (pickles, cold tofu etc) and dashi soup (inside that pot)...

They have diff lunch sets and lunch specials, do check out with the staff when you are there...

Different ways of eating the salmon don, you can eat it just like that or add in the dashi soup which comes with it or half-half, it’s all up to you!

Either ways, taste good still!

The salmon is pretty fresh, when eating it plain with wasabi and rice. The rice was cooked perfectly (not too dry or mushy), with the hint of vinegar, yum~

For a change, added in the dashi soup when I finished half of the don. The soup brings in a different taste totally, like those teochew porridge kind of texture with bonito flakes taste (salty but with bonito flake fragrance). It carried out the sweetness of the rice, and gave the don a total new taste (reminded me of the one I had at Japan Rail Cafe)~ Try it!

Decent for lunch at CBD area, not the first time here and don’t mind revisiting too~

Note: It gets crowded during lunch hour, be sure to be early to avoid the crowd~

Damage: $15 (Set lunch)

Lovely slab of unagi which was soft and I love the sauce that they drenched it with. Not overly sweet.

Very satisfactory meal
