Set includes two bowls of don, two salad, two drinks and gyoza. add $2 to change sashimi to all salmon.

sashimi was rly fresh and nicely seasoned. but gyoza skin was too thick and tasted like smth you can buy off from the supermarket.

We had two bowls of signature kaisendon that came along side a choice of hot or cold green tea, salad, clam miso soup and steamed gyoza. The portion of the bowl isn’t large, the bowl is approximately the size of a hand. In the bowl, there was a mix of sashimi including fish like salmon, tuna, swordfish and other seafood like prawns, mock abalone, scallops and tako. It was also topped with seaweed and ikura. The smaller sized portion is made up with the sides which were decent. The clam soup was tasty with a decent amount of clams in it. Overall, a decent deal with a variety of food to partake.

Had this using Burpple’s 1-for-1. The mentaiko sauce eclipsed the flavours of the raw fish. Even though the meal was rather substantial - came with 2 gyozas, tea, salad and miso (rather salty), it was overall a “meh” meal which I don’t mind having on an empty stomach.

Personally find that I would only get this using Burpple 1-for-1 deal - ~$17.50 for Main, Salad, Pre-selected Side, and Hot/Iced Green Tea. Got their Signature Kaisendon which was nothing really outstanding and sashimi isn’t the freshest. Felt a tinge jelat and thought the flavours could have been alleviated a little to counter that. However, they did add premium ingredients like prawn, scallop and mock abalone, albeit only one of each.

Ebi Mentaiko ($7.80)
⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
🍴Yummy chirashi bowls that came with a good array of chopped seafood, complemented by crunchy cucumber, juicy seaweed, and fish roe. Our favourite was the fresh and juicy scallops that had a natural sweetness to them (but we would have preferred for slightly thicker cuts), and the slightly crunchy hamachi. We found the salmon pieces to be a bit soft and the ebi a tad tough. However, all the components went well together to make for an enjoyable and hearty Japanese meal. We also enjoyed the sweet and well-marinated unagi, and chewy abalone mushroom found in the chirashi bowl.

Both #kaisendon came with a a choice of kei sauce (slightly sour) or yuzu wasabi sauce (could hardly taste anything besides a hint of yuzu at the base of the rice when we tried our hardest to ‘find’ this sauce). We found ourselves just using the wasabi soy sauce, and would have preferred for more/ stronger sauce, or for it to have been served on the side for our own addition 😅. Another feedback was that we found their rice a tad mushy & wet.

Besides the mains, we would recommend their mentaiko tamago. Loved the rich and tasty mentaiko sauce paired with the soft & sweet egg. While the ebi was yummy, we found the mentaiko to overpower the natural prawn flavour and the prawn to not be the freshest. The salad was simple and refreshing, and we liked that the miso soup wasn’t too salty and peppered with tofu and radish pieces.

⚠️ Burpple beyond has an affordable 1-1 $29.90 Burpple beyond set - choice of kaisendon + chicken drumlet + soup + salad. Without Burpple, there are also promotional sets of 2 Kaisendons with sides at $35.90 (gyoza, soup/salad, tea) or $43.90 (mentaiyaki, clam soup, salad).
