[CLOSED] Kemiri (Old Airport Road Food Centre)

Recently opened by an Indonesian Chinese gentleman from West Borneo, "Kemiri by Aroma Indah" (stall unit #01-46) focuses on serving a key dish - "Nasi Kuning", with the meat being the only variant. Which makes it pretty similar in concept to "Chop Chop" at Amoy Street Hawker Centre albeit with less choices since this hawker only has chicken rendang, beef rendang and mutton rendang ($5.50, $6 and $6.50 respectively). However, having eaten the dish today, I don't see it being a problem because by golly, it tastes superb!
I love how aromatic the yellow rice is from the "kunyit" (also known as stain-fingers-forever turmeric) and because the rendang features beef shin, it's melt-in-the-mouth tender. The rendang gravy is also of a respectable hotness, and being rather dry, the "rempah" spices seem more concentrated.
Pickles, stir-fried cabbage and a paper-thin slice of omelette with sambal complete this $6 dish. To be honest, I'd be happier with a proper whole fried egg but since everything else is way above average, I'm willing to accept the existing version.

New stall i think. The rice is nice. Beef quite small.

The last time we discovered this stall, we had it with ayam bakar (grilled chicken) and chicken rendang. This time we tried the mutton and beef rendang. Both were yummy but I preferred the texture and taste of the mutton rendang. A little more tender and gamey.

We were pleasantly surprised! The ayam bakar and rendang were very tasty. It is now on my list of favourites for Old Airport Road Hawker Centre.
