More Reviews of good food at KEK Keng Eng Kee Seafood (Alexandra)

KEK is a well-known zhi char place here at Alexandra. Getting parking lots here will always be a challenge here during meal times.

Gets very packed in the restaurant as well, so make your reservations before coming down.

1) Signature Moonlight Hor Fun
- one of their signature dish, strong wok hei with thick and sticky texture due to the 2 raw eggs. A must have here

2) Sharing Platter
- Golden Pearl Roll
- Prawn roll
- Yam Basket
- You tiao with Seafood Paste
- a great platter for sharing, especially to try their signature Golden Pearl Roll & Prawn Roll.
- all crispy and tasted good. Must order item.

3) Crab Bee Hoon Soup
- Not their signature dish, but soup was flavourful and crab was fresh.

4) Claypot Liver
- a must have dish here. The best dish today, sauce was damn good and liver was not overcooked whatsoever. Just right.

5) Coffee Pork Ribs
- very distinct coffee taste. Pork Ribs were tender and the first plate to be cleared today.

6) Salted Egg Sotong
- lots of good reviews on this and rightly so, most value for money, as the sotong pieces seem to be endless. Each small piece is well coated with salted Egg.

7) Sambal Kangkong
- every zhi char dinner must have this, and the Sambal Kangkong here definitely meets my high standard.

8) Spinach with 3 kinds egg
- quite ok. Nothing really fantastic, but not the worst I ever had.

Fried with garlic and ginger, the green beans were slightly blistered, well cooked with a good crunch. Tasty!

Sooo good - smooth and buttery, loved the texture. I love steamed fish in soya sauce and this hit the spot! Topped with fried ginger shreds and fresh coriander, this was v satisfying.

A really tasty horfun, the dark sauce is well integrated with the kwayteow and has a smoky char / wokhei to it. It’s moist yet not wet, and comes with ingredients like veg, beansprouts, baby octopus, and pork. There’s a raw egg cracked into it to mix in - we mixed some horfun and left some egg-less. I actually preferred the eggless one as it was less gooey. Think I would like it better with the eggs cooked into the horfun!

Not a fan of liver and this didn’t change my mind, but my bf loves this as it’s not powdery and overcooked, and it comes with a very flavourful dark sauce with onions and scallions that I liked as well. It comes all bubbly and the server will stir the ingredients together to mix it all up.

It was v nice when it was piping hot - crunchy batter encasing tender pork cubes within. However as it cooled down, it wasn’t as nice, though I would still consider this above average. I liked the variety of veg (pineapple, cucumber, tomato, onions, capsicums) it came with, and portions are large.

Went to KEK Seafood last week and ordered a Claypot Pig Liver, Garlic Nai Bai, Coffee Pork Ribs and Black Pepper Crab!😇 Paid a total of about $150 including drinks and rice.

Overall ratings 7/10! Food is honestly not bad and is highly raved about but the black pepper crab was on the pricey side at $95 for a smaller portion😨 Would head back for the coffee pork ribs though🤣

This place has the ideal bouncy texture for liver. However it could be abit thicker, and so it's not the best I've had(from the Jurong West claypot rice stall)

The sauce is unique, but that doesn't rlly matter because it's not particularly strong and what's impt is the texture.

this is certainly worth a try if you've never had the perfect bouncy kind of liver

Huge portion, the sambal is quite aromatic. Unfortunately, the dish as a whole was very average in terms of both flavour and texture

Skip for sure

There's some wok hei, it's quite unique actl. The horfun has a sticky and slightly slippery texture, but it wasn't as slippery as you would expect from a whole raw egg. You barely taste the egg after mixing.

Original comes with pork and seafood, the fish was really fresh

Comfort food, not bad, not mindblowing

The star is the rich creamy soup / broth, infused with sweet savoury herbal flavour from the crab, tempered by the silky smooth thick rice vermicelli noodles with mild grainy sweet flavour, and the crisp napa cabbage with vegetal sweet notes.
.
The large meaty fresh Sri Lankan crab holds excellent sweet savoury flavour, and the shell is already pre-cracked to make it easy to peel.
.
Will return just to eat this again next time.

This was recommended by staff, and it was possibly the best dish here.
.
Sourced fresh, the chicken was perfectly roasted, with a crisp crunchy skin that bursts with salty savoury flavour. Beneath, the bouncy tender chicken meat comes easily off the bone, carrying lovely meaty sweet savoury flavour.
.
Paired with a light chicken salt on the side for added depth of salty savoury notes.
.
So good, we wished for more.

This has small bouncy squid rings coated in a crispy salted egg yolk batter.
.
With a light crunch when bit, followed by pleasant salty spice savoury flavour next, this was rather addictive.

One of the best if not the best Zi Char in Singapore. The different levels of flavour in the Chilli Crab, the robust coffee taste in the coffee ribs, the fluffiness in their steamed man tou, the strong herbal taste in their drunken prawn in claypot, all leaves you wondering not if but WHEN you should come back. Service was also fast and polite as usual. And I really like the Kopitiam atmosphere.

Must introduce to more of my friends.
