Run by passionate baristas, KITA Coffee is a quiet space for a quick break over a healthy vegetarian meal and a good cup of coffee in the city. The meat-free plates are done well — order the signature Barista Curry Rice (RM15) sporting vegetables in Japanese curry served with a crack of coffee powder that adds a pleasant bitterness to the thick curry. Coffee fanatics will enjoy the Hand Brew Coffee (RM15) made with beans from around the region – on our visit we spotted those from Johor's Sweet Blossom and Japan's Glitch Coffee & Roasters. Otherwise, the Flat White (RM10) is a smooth and creamy cuppa that hits the spot. Pro tip: This cafe is tucked deep within Fahrenheit 88 – directions are available on their Instagram page.

Fluffy swiss roll with nice and airy strawberry-flavoured cream that goes perfectly with coffee. The cake selection changes often but this was a definite pleaser. Just wish they’re more generous with the fruit as it only had one sad piece :(

Another great cup as well. These beans (I don’t remember the name!!) are from a local roasted based in Johor. Very tea-like in its body and flavour too. It was mind boggling how much it reminded us of loh hon kor. They carry other beans from KL, and one from Japan’s Glitch Coffee Roasters.

An excellent cup. Haven’t had a good flat white in a while and this was very smooth.

Wonderful pour. Very smooth, very creamy though it got a bit too milky for me towards the end.

Simple coffee spot tucked in a pretty-hard-to-find spot in Fahrenheit 88 (look for the ICLS Language Centre). Food is vegetarian only, but this signature of a curry rice dish is certainly hearty enough to curb meat cravings.

Tenkusu (tempura bits) could’ve been crispier for the crunch effect it was intended for, curry could’ve come with a bit more veg but flavour wise, quite satisfying. The “barista” twist is the crack of coffee powder on top — adds a lightly bitter yet savoury aftertaste that was surprisingly pleasant.
