Decided to give this place a try and had lunch here with my partner as we are both Japanese cuisine lovers. I think its safe to say we over ordered by the amount of things we picked.
From the udon noodles, to the vegetable fritters, croquets, fried crabstick, tempura and squid; who wouldn't be overwhelmed 😅
All this for approx. $30ish, i'd say it's a good deal, but if you're craving for something healthy, do avoid the fried stuff. But of course, a treat once in a while isn't a bad idea!
Chicken Katsu Toji Curry Udon ($8.80). The curry was the soupy kind, instead of the usual thick Japanese style curry. But it still had a pretty strong curry taste, with little chunks of carrots and potatoes. Chicken Katsu was really flavourful! It got soaked in the curry after a short while, so better take it out quickly if you don't like it soaked. The egg went really well with the chicken too. Great affordable dish, if you like a hot bowl of curry!
Chicken Karaage Curry Udon ($8) was also delicious, with an onsen egg and quite a few pieces of well fried chicken karaage rested above the slightly thicker curry.
Almost everything was having a 30% discount when we were there! Great timing! :D
California maki & Chawanmushi were unexpectedly decent and their food are really kept fresh and easily tastes better than sushi outlets out in the market. Also has a wide variety of sushi and related food, as well as seasonings and other supplies on the shelfs. Do give it a go if you are looking for fresh sushi to takeaway that would not burn a hole in your pocket.
Favourite Japanese light cheesecake ever since I was a kid!!
$7.80 Salmon mentai, surprisingly shiok #burpple
