battling a long queue during peak hours, we were pretty excited when we first saw the highly-raved π™ˆπ™šπ™£π™©π™–π™žπ™ π™€ π™Žπ™–π™‘π™’π™€π™£ [$10] bowl!

what really impressed me was the thickness of the salmon fillet, and just how juicy it was! i'm not the biggest fan of cooked salmon (i prefer mine raw) but this one hit different 😩 it was lightly-cooked, such that it was slightly pink on the inside and really tender 😍 AND THE MENTAIKO MAYO WAS SO CREAMY I LUV
of course, the most unique feature of the bowl was definitely the butterfly pea-cooked rice (it's not every day i get to eat blue rice), which supposedly has multiple health benefits. it boasts a vivid blue color, but doesn't taste thaaaat different from regular rice if you're wondering. it was okay, although it fell a little on the mushy side.

πŸ™ overall: would i get it again? maybe, but probably just for the salmon! but i would say it was a pretty interesting experience heh. in the middle of amoy food street where it's nestled among many other food stalls, it's easy to miss it, but i think it's worth one try

Mentaiko Salmon (S$10)
Available at @lagoonbowl
Would be better if Salmon was less dry.

Looking for something affordable, nutritious, Instagrammable and delicious sounds a bit too much but fortunately it is not. Not only does this bowl look gorgeous, it is actually really delicious! The sous vide salmon with mentaiko mayo is packed with robusting flavor and the sesame dressing gives those 'boring' veggies an extra flavor and the sous vide egg to help balance out the dryness of the dish.

Most of the stalls were closed by 245pm. And Lagoon was the only one that stood out from the rest and decided to give it a try. They only have 3 items in the menu and I opted for Mentaiko salmon bowl and it did not disappoint. Love the combination of everything inside the bowl and I finished everything! So yes if you are in Amoy, this is worth trying!

The salmon was phenomenal! It was somewhat half done, which made it incredibly tender. I watched the chef blow torch the salmon and that's how he achieves this wonderful texture. They were generous with the mentaiko and it hit all the right spots. The egg was runny and I liked that there was some veggies on the side to complete the meal. Overall a wonderful meal. Initially, I felt like 10 bucks was too much to pay for a meal at a hawker centre but with this quality and standard, it's absolutely a steal!

Honestly, the rice was just fine (Blue pea or not). BUT I have to say the beef was pretty goodddddπŸ‘πŸ» will I buy this again? Probably but I’ll probably satisfy my Sarawak noodle cravings over this for the $$
