Came on Sunday late morning and found out their signature mee pok and mee kia already no more. Since already here so no choice to forget with other type of noodles instead.

Went with the simple and small portion in dry version. Topped with mushroom and minced meat.

Expect a wait at this popular Toa Payoh minced meat noodle store. Only one item on the menu with choice of dry/soup and various noodles. Their meekia was firm and springy, and remained aldente even at the end. Bee tai mak was QQ and with an enjoyable chew. The ingredients were quite standard fare but well-executed with tender pig liver, minced pork, beansprouts, and juicy braised mushrooms.

The sauce was on the thinner side and didn’t coat the noodles well, resulting in initial bites to be on the dry and bland side despite adequate mixing. Would recommend adding in some soup and allowing time (~10 minutes) for the noodles to soak up the saucey blend of fried lard, spicy chili, and tangy vinegar for truly hearty and slurp-worthy bites. Might be back to try their soup version next time!

Stall was out of mee kia and mee pok so we went for mixed yellow noodle and bee hoon. Nice taste, it was vinegary and flavorful but overall pretty average IMO.

Operating in the Toa Payoh area since 1985, @laihengmmmm arguably serves the best BCM in TPY, and some say Singapore too!πŸ‘

BTW this is their SGD5 chilli dry kway teow mee option, which can be quite spicy IMO. And please don’t purposely travel all the way down just to try thisβ€¦πŸ˜‚

This popular stall draws a constant queue throughout the day. Known for its reliably decent and consistent bak chor mee, I queued 20 minutes for this.
.
Their soup is clear and light, but I prefer their gravy which is balanced with savoury sour spicy notes.
.
Love that the mee pok / wide flat egg noodles were al-dente with a light chew. The pork slices and minced pork are fresh with meaty sweet savoury flavour, the braised mushrooms lending a salty earthy savoury contrast.
.
Big flavour from the crisp pork lard. A comforting and satisfying bowl, among the better renditions in the area.
