Returned again to Lai Wah, was passing by the area here for lunch, realised I didn't bring my wallet with me, so was finding a place to eat that have cashless payment. So was rather glad that Lai Wah, despite being such an old school restaurant that has been around for over 50 years, has also embraced cashless payment modes.

Hor Fun, which usually goes for $8, is avaliable during lunch time(11am to 2.30pm) and dinner time (6 to 9.30pm) for only $4.50.

The half crispy chicken is also available for $10(usual price $20) for the same lunch and dinner time promo.

Wok Hei very strong, hor fun was flavourful. Ingredients were fresh as well, vegetables tasted like it was bought off market in the morning, the meat and seafood were fresh as well.

The roasted chicken u always eat at wedding dinner.

It's crispy and juicy. Only $10 for half chicken, not bad pricing. Nothing to lose, now is the best time to try it.

Old school restaurant, can see they are having hard times, hardly any customers despite having promotions.

Lai wah has been operating for the last 58 years.

The are having promotions for:

1) $4 for mixed meat noodles/beehoon/horfun/fried rice/braised rice dishes

2) signature crispy fried chicken
3) boiled boneless chicken with kai lan
4) Boiled chicken with delicious sauce

$10 for half chicken and $18 for whole chicken. Usual price is $20/$38

Avaliable for dine in and takeaway.

So come down to support this old school restaurant. Their food is good, if not they wouldn't have been around for so long.

Decided to have the fried rice, its fairly decent, and very generous with the meat ingredients, really old school, like the type My mum will cook at home. Very home cooked feel.

This restaurant has a Long tradition! Their signature chicken stew is a must try!! Tender fall off the bone chicken that melts in your mouth and that Unami sauce that soaks the chicken!! My mouth is watering

Visited Lai Wah on a lazy Sunday afternoon and was greeted with rustic, old school vibes in the quaint restaurant along the Kallang riverside area. Ordered a set meal for 4-5 at $62 which consisted of Yangzhou Fried Rice, Salted Egg Squid, Honey Pork & Veggies. Added a whole chicken for $38 if Im not mistaken & Fried Cereal Beancurd $11 and Venison $15. Their roasted chicken is said to be one of the best but it was pretty OK to me, nothing that special but still good, crispy on the outside but a the meat was a tad too dry for my liking. Venison and Cereal Beancurd was really good though, along with the Yangzhou fried rice which was really tasty! Having a long history since the 60s/70s, Lai Wah has really made a name in the pioneers of Singapore & it's popularity is proven as they've already started taking in reservations for CNY reunion dinner.

Cost - $132 for 6 people!

Unseasoned, moist and crispy. Usually I will avoid this sort of chicken dish, as they usually just turned up dry and uninviting. But thankfully, this plate is moist and juicy, while still retaining the crispy exterior. While it done at its best, and done right, I wouldn't say that it's extremely delicious at all. Nothing big to shout about.
