While Lao Fu Zi was my favourite comic character, the namesake char kway teow is most definitely not my favourite char kway teow in Singapore. I’ve had it a couple of times before and my opinion still stays the same: I don’t understand the hype.⠀

It’s definitely not revolting by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s awfully bang average. Sure there’s an ample amount of wok hei in the messy mound of fried noodles, and they don’t skimp on the cockles, but that’s about it. Everything else is just industry standard and it ain’t anything to write home about.

Not sure why but it seemed like today's order came with extra amount of dark soya sauce as compared to usual, which was nice, but it was a bit too sweet. We think that this is an average plate of charkwayteow that might be a tad overpriced. Note that the fried kway teow at this stall tends not to have the wok hei fragrance that many look out for.

So i did homework to find out which Char Kway teow that have delivery service.
And i found Lao Fu Zi from Old Airport Food Centre has delivery service.
So i gathered neighbours (yes, im the host this time 😆, all for ckt ),and placed order ystd.
Finally i can have char kway teow.
Its still warm when reach my house, sweet and spicy (i asked for chilli) ckt with light wok hei. .

It’s lunch time and Michelin Bib Gourmand aside, CKT will always be our most favourite noodle dish that we are drawn to. Luckily there is no queue (we even manage to get the boss smile!! 😁...later on our IG 🤗📸)

We order $5 small size with no hum. Then commute back to Bishan (20 mins). The wok hei aroma is still in the pack. We got 2 prawns, Chinese sausage, beansprout and of course Kway Teow noodle (dry and not soak with sauce like black CKT). This is no boring CKT and we have to admit that it is well seasoned and guess pepper might be in! We will most likely come back if in Old Airport Road Food Center again! 👍

Fried Kway Teow, $8. [Michelin Bib Gourmand] There’s different prices and you could choose between white or black version! Don’t be deceived, although the que was pretty short like 5 pax, we had to wait about 20 mins to get our hands on it. 😢 All worth it after we taken our first bite on it! Noodles and Kway Teow texture were both on point! Fried fragrantly and has a wok-hei taste which we adores. It also comes with generous ingredients of bean sprouts, egg, Chinese sausage and hum! A satisfying plate of fried Kway Teow!! .
