I’m not sure when the price increased and the quality of ingredients decreased. The ingredients are no longer fresh, and so not justify the price tag. Thankfully the soup still retains its umami-ness. I liked it that they offered dry hor fun which was tasty, although I was rather put off by the server who asked me if I wanted less hor fun (I did, but it’s rude to ask, isn’t it?).

Food is ok but counter staff is rude. Waited for than 5 min to just take an order when he was standing there doing his own stuff

In addition to their nourishing soups, Lao Jiang has a variety of local delights that you could choose to complete your meal with. The meat was pretty well marinated with spices here, although a tad too salty. Might be a little overpriced as well considering the portion.

Thank you Burpple and Lao Jiang Superior Soup for the Eatup invitation!

If you still have belly-space, you have to get their Local Delights. Sliced thinly, the Fried Spice Pork Belly ($8) comes highly recommended, and rightfully so as it was pretty well-executed. The taste of nan ru (fermented beancurd) wasn’t too strong and there was a wonderful crisp. I like that the cut wasn’t too fatty or lean. Overall, each piece was succulent and relatively tender.

A great rainy day comfort food combi with Lao Jiang Superior Soup’s signature items!

Right off the bat, we zoomed in on their Signature Superior Soup ($9.50). Boiled for hours, the seafood-y soup base was sweet-savoury, light yet flavourful, and not thirst-inducing at all. The highlight was the assortment of ingredients - minced pork, prawns, fish maw, fishball, abalone slices, meatballs, pork slices, and fried fish sticks. The order also comes with a choice of noodle or rice so we got ours paired with a bowl of their dry Hor Fun coated with their traditional secret dark sauce.

With the recent rainy season, wouldn’t you crave for some hot piping nourishment? Lao Jiang Superior Soup prides themselves in using fresh, premium ingredients, especially for their traditional soup broth that is slowly boiled using carefully handpicked, fresh ingredients.

Using fresh chicken thigh and chicken essence, the double boiled chicken essence soup is surely packed with nutrients to combat fatigue, strengthen the immune system and boost muscle growth. Meticulously packed in a separate sachet, the chicken essence can be added to the amount of your liking. In fact, what came as a surprise was the gingery soup broth. Some might find it overpowering, but it was actually quite wholesome that I finished my entire bowl. Could imagine the amount of time spent on double boiling the chicken thigh as it was superbly tender. Served with complimentary rice.
