As my dad said he used to eat this as a kid, you know it’s as good as it gets. Never really liked ngoh hiang but this is the best I’ve tried so far.

Someone Mention to me about this 五香 stall dun noe why they call it 老子号 。 I think they are in business for more than 30 years. Now let introduce u this 五香。 What I know this 五香 stall sell alot like more than 10 type of item. Everything is made on the spot by the stall owners. So call u can eat fresh item. No next day food. The Sauce is their key Special. The stall owner uses plum sauces added with Chilli & crushes peanut. 1 bowl of sauce is not enough need at least 2 bowl of sauces. Their Sotong is must order. The Stall Owner know how to cooked at perfect texture. Some cooked is hard or soft cannot different the Q tender of the cuttlefish. Dun Worry if there are item are sold out the stall owner Will replenish.

Lao Zhong Zhong Ngou Hiang
.
Grew up om these fried fritters and after so many years, I have not gotten sick on having this any day anytime! My fabourites are the orange chestnut cake, the actual ngou hiang rolls and the must-order prawn crackers. The chilli is also the main star as it really adds to the enjoyment of this dish!

While waiting for your prawn mee from (River South Hoe Nam) across the street, make a beeline for this stall for some pre-game nibbles. My personal favourites are the ngoh hiang and soft tofu, but the star is really that bomb diggity sauce!

Since young, I had many fond memories of supper outings to Lao Zhong Zhong Fine Spice Stall (老中中餐室五香酥虾饼) at the former Jackson Food Centre with my family. Although the food centre has since been demolished to make way for new developments, the stall remains a star in the neighbourhood, buzzing with action at Lao Zhong Zhong Eating House especially on weekends:) The crispy carrot stick (萝卜糕) is my all time favourite, the fried beancurd is super soft and fragrant and the pork liver roll is great👍🏻 The chilli has just the right amount of sweetness and spiciness, and compliments the fried ingredients perfectly. Although the food items are fried, they don’t feel that oily which is a great plus point. Old is Gold🤩! #ngorhiang
