A different take of the brownie as it's not the usual denser cake form but this was light & airy fudge take of the classic brownies really a surprising brownie to try as it doesn't make you wanna stop eating it after the 1st bite of it! The pear frangipani is delicate and beautiful with it's pear sliced thinly which was immersed with a rich and cinnamon syrup that strucks a resemblances to the caramel toffee sauce minus the condensed milk and heavy hand of sugar. It's also a great combination with the toasted sliced almonds, drizzle of caramel sauce and a huge scoop of ice cream

Weird combination right? La/Pa may have a thing in making savoury desserts. But an avid food lover as I am, I can't fathom a savoury French toast, especially with Pesto!! Pesto is with pasta. Good pasta. Not good French toast. Some might like this twist but definitely not my favourite. The toast was rather hard too. I think because it's the dark rye loaf.
Food: 5/10 Price: 5/10 (RM 19.90 - very expensive for two pieces of bread coated in egg and some vegetable and herbs blended in the blender for a topping. I'll forgive them a bit because feta cheese, rye bread, and kale is quite expensive. Plus, this is in Bangsar)

We were able to taste various homemade breads with delicious homemade butter blends.
Condiments from left to right: Spiced brown sugar and raisin butter; Bonne Maman Jam; Garlic herb butter.
I think the types of breads were dark rye loaf (which is the same bread that they use for the French toast dish), white baguette, and brioche burger bun.
This was the cheapest breakfast choice on the menu, but it's nothing close to being cheap. I love the raisin butter. Now I'm tempted to melt some butter and infuse it with some raisins and freeze them in the freezer to make some myself. Spread some butter with Bonne Maman jam (also my favourite brand for fruit preserves, the one with the picnic-y White and red plaid cover), it's an amazing blend.
The garlic spread was very fragrant and tasted amazing on toasted bread. Something like a garlic spread!
I love all the breads, but of course a brioche is the fluffiest and sweetest.
Food: 7/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 12)

Their brunch menu is full of Asian fusion and out-of-the-box food combinations.
The baked eggs here is a little too salty for my liking. A blend of duck eggs, spinach in creamy garlic sauce, paprika, and a side of baguettes. If you love cheese, you can have a go at this. Abundance of melted cheese on top of the sautéed spinach and garlic sauce. Kind of a vegetarian Asian fusion baked egg. I assume naming the dish "ducks in purgatory" is because the duck eggs were drowned in cream sauce and melted cheese? Hahah
Duck eggs are like usual eggs but in my opinion I think there's more saltiness and taste too it. Maybe a little more eggy and less subtle than chicken egg?
Overall it wasn't too bad. Baguette is fluffy and great to be dipped and eaten with baked eggs. I didn't really like the baked eggs overall though.
Food: 6/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 21- it's rather pricey for a vegetarian dish. I'd say give it a try, share it with a group to split the bill. That's what the #burppletastemakers did!)

Firstly, pancakes were not fluffy. From a scale of 1-10 for cottony fluffiness and satisfaction, I rate 5. Don't be deceived by the picture either. The size of pancakes were just about 3 1/2 inch in diameter. Again, this is another approach to a savoury dessert.
I have heard of quinoa made savoury or sweet for breakfast. But this didn't work for me. There was no real taste popping out from any element here. Vanilla bean cream didn't have a significant vanilla taste to it. I didn't realise until I read the menu again and tried looking for the vanilla taste.
This whole blend was just average. Not really recommended.
Food: 5/10 Price: 5/10 (RM 19.90 - the plates are very big. Pancakes are very small. Not so worth it?) P/S. Other than trying what I had, you can go for the sliders and sandwiches which sounds more appetising, but it comes at a cost. The Smoked Salmon Rosti was quite a popular demand that day too!

🍔🍳🍔 Baked duck eggs were really good! Yum! 😍 They have an extensive menu and food here comes in pretty large portion. Will be back for more! #cafehopkl #hungrygowhere #burpple #bakedeggs #quinoaburger #salmonsliders #throwback #vscocam
