As satisfying as biting into a chocolate-dipped ice cream bar, Lee’s Confectionery’s KURI ($11) was a wonderful after-meal dessert. Hidden right under the whisper-thin chocolate shell was a light, almost airy chestnut cream. Mildly nutty, earthy, and delicately sweet, there were also chunks of crunchy oat crumble layered with a brilliant roasted chestnut paste in the mix. Likewise, the mini scoop of smooth chestnut ice cream served on the side had a subtle flavour that balanced the richness of the dark chocolate coating.

Different from the version I tried previously, their banana and coconut cake, JIĀO ($10) had since gone through several iterations - visually I noted the removal of the oat crumble base and sliced brulee-ed bananas. And so the latest one was a tad denser than what I remembered (as I recalled it having less sponge, more cream) but the flavours were still great. The banana sponge cake wasn’t overly sweet and coupled well with the slightly tangy banana compote and coconut cream. The dots of salted caramel and crumbs were nutty and fragrant as well. The scoop of banana ice cream was, likewise, very aromatic and didn’t taste artificial at all even though it was a tad icy in my opinion.

When I first saw the price I got a shocked, but I have to say is worth it ! With the taste and the effort put on the plating, it’s definitely worth the price.

Lychee Oolong Tea - Refreshing enough to cool you down 🥶

An elegant cake that captures and refines some favourite childhood tastes (Horlicks and cornflakes!), packing it all into this cute honeycomb. The Horlicks mascarpone cream was light and fluffy, contrasting the crunchy and sticky honey cornflakes base. It was a treat for our tastebuds!

We thought it was a little bit of a waste that we weren’t able to enjoy this at the confectionery itself since the plating was really pretty. The takeout box was adorable though - the paper box was shaped like a ring box and came in a cute small paper carrier (which also resembles the paper carriers from jewelry shops 🤔). Anyway, all the more reason for us to return when dining in is finally allowed!

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and there was no queue. The staff was very friendly too.

One of the best place for cakes. It's worth paying for these pretty cakes.
We can feel the effort is baking n plating these art pieces.
