😋 Traditional Nonya Kueh in Bedok. Passed by this shop after breakfast at the nearby Fengshan Hawker Centre.

- Ondeh Ondeh
Taste good. The skin is on the thick side but was not hard. The gula melaka (palm sugar) liquid inside burst in your mouth once you bite it. I will buy this again 👍. Abit pricy at S$3.

Lek Lim Nonya Cake Confectionery (01-21)
84 Bedok North Street 4

Bundle of sweet kueh (white tong kao, ondeh gula melaka), mini donut, and signature kueh (kueh lapis nonya). A household name for nonya kuehs.

Peanut ang ku kueh skin is too soft and sticky but filling is nice. Ondeh ondeh doesn’t burst in mouth but packed with filling.

Just flew back to sg and thought could try some kueh around the area.. meh. Nothing much. Ang ku kueh tastes weird, and their kueh seems lacking.. guess im sticking to tiong bahru one instead.

I enjoy eating this kueh layer by layer, and Lek Lim’s version had ten layers, instead of the usual nine.
Owner Madam Sing explained that the traditional types would have white as a base, green (added by the Malays), red (added by the Peranakans) and a choice colour which distinguished the different families. #SG50

I will be writing a book, and the theme will be on Old School Bakeries & Cake Shops.

I have a list of more than 50 shops, but if you have personal contacts (eg your uncle, auntie, friend etc) is the owner of such a shop (more than 20 years of history), would appreciate if you can send them to me.
