They have 2 kinds of tart bases: a Hong Kong style layered one vs a Western style biscuit one. I actually can't tell the difference between the two. The Hong Kong one would be better if it were more layered, flaky and airy. The Western one would be better with some salt crumbs rubbed in and more butter. Main redeeming factor is the smooth, bouncy egg custard. Overall, decent but not my favourite.

Someone bought this for me from the Tiong Bahru and when I first tried it, I went OOOH. Think flaky crispy crust filled with a smooth egg custard centre! 😍 I quickly googled Tiong Bahru egg tart and this super old school bakery popped up. It makes me so happy to know that such charming, old school bakeries like these still exist. While the egg tarts may not be as fragrant or as buttery as the ones at Tai Cheong or Honolulu, for $1.40, I have no complaints. I’ll definitely visit the store myself one day and eat these egg tart babies while they’re hot!


Hong Kong Egg Tart (~$1.50) was freshly baked and so... amazing... warm, wobbly, soft and custardy, damn it gave taicheong a run for its money 🍳🥧
Crust was flaky at the sides and more crumbly at the bottom, and they didn’t skimp on the egg custard at all! 🌿

the traditional egg tarts are really flaky and the custard is jiggly smooth. Char siew one is good too. Lotus paste one can get a bit jialat

Was in Tiong Bahru and googled for small bites - Leung Sang Hong Kong Pastries were the first few results for their traditional HK style egg tarts! Lightly sweetened egg custard in a buttery and flaky crust, it was a good snack to have! If you’re not a fan of the flaky crust, they also have the normal Western egg tart crust at the same price.
