From Liang Ji
Consistency of the typical fried flat rice noodles and yellow noodles with egg, sliced fish cake, bean sprout and sliced Chinese sausage.
Few cockles hidden inside.
Local delights indeed.

I am pretty sure many of us find comfort in our all-time favourite hawker food. @liangjishiye , a hawker stall located at Waterloo Street, spices up our hawker experience with a fusion twist!

@liangjishiye specializes in various fusion flavour for our local favourites such as:

Though I love fried oysters, I have to say my favourite is their Cheesy Floss Carrot Cake! First time trying this rendition of carrot cake and I really like it! The cheesy floss elevates and modernises the traditional carrot cake. Fret not if you fancy the traditional style as they offer a wide variety of our local favourites - some with a twist on it!

If youโ€™re fully vaccinated, head down to check out @liangjishiye ! Otherwise, delivery option is available too!

Not one who is usually taken by this local delicacy โ€” wouldnโ€™t be wrong if someone classes me as one of those โ€œyoungstersโ€ that is contributing to how Char Kway Teow is going to be extinct in the gentrification of hawker culture, but thatโ€™s usually because of how some variants can be a little too sweet, a little too greasy, and a little flat.

We arenโ€™t really here to comment on anything else apart from the food โ€” so I must say that Liang Ji Fried Kway Teow is actually one of those that I really wouldnโ€™t mind having it again; a pity how they were kinda overshadowed by Pangโ€™s Hakka Noodles during the time when they were at Xin Tekka (lest the period they were doing the National Day promotion). The Fried Kway Teow isnโ€™t particularly cheap here โ€” $5 for a small plate and $7 for the only other larger size; which made me rather hesitant to order the Premium Crab Fried Kway Teow which is available only in a single size at $9.90. Nonetheless, Liang Jiโ€™s Fried Kway Teow is what I look for in a good plate of Char Kway Teow โ€” itโ€™s sufficiently dry yet slurpy without swimming in grease; still sweet from the toss-up of sauces and yet coming with a slight hint of wok-hei. While there are bits of lupcheong around for a slight contrast of sweetness and bite, its the abundance of bean sprouts in their rendition that provides much of the textural crunch apart from the slight qq-ness of the fishcakes added. As one who rarely orders Fried Kway Teow, Liang Jiโ€™s plain Jane rendition is one that I actually found quite fitting to my liking.

Since I had went for coffee from Kurasu during the last visit to Blk 261 Waterloo Street, itโ€™s only โ€œrightโ€ to get my cuppa from Clap Cafe this time round โ€” the black was pretty well-rounded with a punchy body, with an earthier flavour profile and a clean finish; works as a good mid-day perk me up.

Saw this stall while waiting for Pangโ€™s Hakka noodle. Decided to order since the stall had many photos with celebrity chef. So glad we did, this is the kind of Kway Teow I missed childhood. Almost impossible to find these day. This is really good, cooked the traditional way as I remember.
