I have gotta be honest; I was quite skeptical when I first heard of a vegan cafe. I was expecting clean, healthy but bland tasting food but the selections here threw me off and proved me wrong!

The Mushroom Tofu Ciabatta ($9.90) came with a huge thick slab of nicely grilled tofu sandwiched between a soft and lightly toasted ciabatta. The real star of the show, however, was the special homemade dressing that oozes a very umami taste that went really well with the huge tofu slab. I found myself wondering what the spread contained, it was really good! The fresh veggies that came atop the tofu added a nice crunch too.

The Iced Shaken Mixed Berries Earl Grey w/ Strawberry Pearls ($6.50) was a welcoming treat! Refreshing and tangy, this was perfect after the walk that I took from the bus stop to cafe. They were not kidding when they said Strawberry Pearls too; they tasted like actual strawberry bits!

I finished off the meal with a Matchaffagato. The matcha here, using high-quality @naokimatcha matcha, was super thick and it's bitterness complemented perfectly with the mildly sweet vegan vanilla gelato. No wonder so many ordered this!

Considering a much hidden vegan cafe in a very quiet area, but close to Dhoby Ghaut and Orchard.

They have a very comfortable space with few seating tables and very friendly as well.

Serving meatless sandwiches, mains and sides with drinks. I was here quite late so can only get the sandwich.

The peanut tempeh sandwich using nine grain toasts stuffed with marinated tempeh patty on housemade peanut sauce, and lettuce, tomato and wilted baby spinach.

A very healthy and light sandwich that you could enjoy slowly. Strong peanut taste with the tempeh.

About 8 mins walk from Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station, @lilac.oak aims to introduce the wonders plant-based food to customers with their housemade (vegan) sweets & savouries. All your (un)guilty pleasures!😌

Here’s what we enjoyed…
👉Peanut Tempeh Sandwich - SGD9.90
Marinated tempeh patty with a housemade peanut sauce, lettuce, tomato, wilted baby spinach, nine grain toasts
👉Bronte Pistachio Vegan Gelato w Housemade Waffles - SGD11.60
Served with organic pure maple syrup
👉Iced Shaken Mango Passion Oolong w Passionfruit Pearls - SGD6.50

Everything we had was surprisingly good! Their Peanut Tempeh Sandwich was tasty, well-balanced and surprisingly not that dry. Special mention goes to their housemade waffles which had a crisp exterior and fluff interior. I like that it also had a distinct flavour (maybe because it’s vegan?) that complemented well with the robust pistachio gelato.😋

a good basic bowl of acai topped with fruits, maple pecan granola and coconut flakes! personally am a more-fruits-on-acai kinda person so i would have preferred if there’s more acai bowl topping options

fragrant, earthy & creamy goodness ✨ this was sooo good, love that smoothness that lingers on your tongue with a hint of sweetness!
