What I Eat
Soft yet still have a bite and fluffy rice vermicelli topped with savory chicken meat and a tasty broth (with meat ball, dumpling & bakso tahu too) at the side. This is a good eat before you start your day. And don't forget to order their bakso goreng too!
Spicy red peanut sauce are a good complement for this Indonesian peranakan siumay.. Costumer can choose siumay, bakso tahu, egg and potatoes or combine all of them. Price are per piece (around Rp 9.000,- each). If you like spicy food and a good siumay, this is worth a try.
Just like the title said "nasi goreng gila" mean crazy fried rice. I think the name came up when they adding almost all kind of topping available into the fried rice. From scrambled egg to spring onion, from shredded chicken to sausage, basically anything available in your pantry. Then add some minced chilli paddies for extra kick, you choose from hot or super hot. I'll stick with hot thankyouverymuch.
Since we stay around Bencoolen area at the first day I decide to take a night strool to Bugis+. Then when the snacking urge come, our choice come to a delectably displayed crispy deep fried squid on a stick called Uyi Savory Squid. I love how crispy yet succulent those squid are, I remember the last time I try to cook squid to long and it become rubbery. But this squid are just perfectly cooked and crispy. We choose the hot & spicy flavor for our squid, with extra green tea for our drink it cost us only $7.50 it is sooo good, so for me this is a good bargain š
My friend, Fillip, craving for some pork dishes, then I remember there's a mix rice joint very near to our Raden Saleh area office. So we decide to skip our usual lunch and have a porky pig out (no pun intended). Oh, you can choose the rice too, hainam rice or white rice.
A very, very late post from few weeks past. This is the 1st time we try out (finally!) this gallery/eatery in Kemang area. Starting with this mushroom cream soup, which is very good. But am not a fan of that croutons, to way too oily for my liking.
Bunch of young business starter turn a traditional market into one of the hippest place in Jakarta today. The 2nd floor of the market turn into small shops selling vintage goodies, coffees, foods, etc.. This 3 foods stall I try yesterday. A green tea cream brƻlƩe by LabrƻlƩtory, batagor by Batagor Burangrang and grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of cold salted chocolate milk by Roti Eneng.
Hock Seng noodles (mine use kwetiau tho), originally from Medan, North Sumatera. A bowl-full of seafood and a bit of pork goodness. Love their clear yet flavorful broth, and the coriander leaves give a fresh after taste #lunch #latepost #burpple
Never had these before, so I said it's okay.. A bit under seasoned tho.
