festivities
Started off with a 60-head abalone & salmon yusheng for our annual huat huat lunch!
Xin Cuisine’s signature home-style roasted duck with tea leaves was fantastic, juicy with crackling skin, though there wasn’t a strong hint of tea (which I’d have expected since it’s part of the name😂).
My favorite was definitely the fresh steamed red garoupa with fragrant & raw minced garlic which I happily devoured. We also had braised shredded abalone soup with fish maw, sea cucumber, dried scallops and fish maw/ braised pig trotters beehoon (portion was huge! And the skin was gelatinous)/ dessert was meh but I found the textures interesting since they used dragonfruit in the mango pomelo sago; and I liked the crisp batter of the fried niangao (which I also happily finished because my boss said eat = 步步高升)🤑💰
Part of our 9-course 富贵满门宴 with braised whole 6-head abalones, fa cai💰, fish belly and greens (that I do not care for but eating lots of them shd be my resolution) with superior oyster sauce.
As the year draws to a close with a flurry of festivities, here's a pretty good idea of what to bring for parties to feed your family and friends. Each box comprises 4 flavours (original, pandan, Oreo and redvelvet) of churros that remained crisp outside fluffy inside for quite a long time. Comes with 5 dips (chocolate, caramel, gula melaka, white chocolate and a Christmas exclusive cranberry sauce); so you and your loved ones can have fun mixing-and-matching flavours! There are two sizes to choose from at $24.90 (4-6pax); and $59.90 (8-10 pax). Kind folks over at LocoLoco is currently offering $3 off per box, simply quote "BURPPLETMXLOCO"!
Thank you @locolocosg for hand-delivering this delish Christmas Platter for a sweet ending to a good meal!
Dessert table of very gorgeous sweets by Cupplets at the Club Monaco event!
$15. Popped them all faster than I could say PARTY IN MY MOUTH. These light crumbly cookies with savoury fragrance from the salted egg / curry leaves, were so small-sized that you wouldn't even notice how much you've eaten until it's gone. Genius. next CNY I know where I'm heading to get some cookies.
I get that the lunar new year is almost over but these Almond & Ikan Bilis Sambal Cookies are the best!
Got them for 3 tubs for $45 (along with a very fragrant pandan Chia seed & buttery pineapple tart with fillings that are the right sweetness/sourness). The almond and Ikan bilis makes it really crunchy, it's really fragrant from the curry leaves. The spiciness kicks in right away and lingers - damn shiok.
I barely plan for anything but I'm pretty sure I'm going to get this again next year 😋
#4 of 4 lohei with another homemade fruit yu sheng, this time with fried enoki in replacement of the crackers. The enoki is my favourite part of the dish hahahahahahaha! (Probably can't make it out but someone actually attempted to create a goat for the one in the background but everyone else thought it was a dog)
#2 out of 4 lohei - here's my favourite fruit version (before adding the crispy cracker). This has become a tradition, sweet and sour fruits (quite unpredictable haha)
Let 3 days of feasting begin!! (+ Pen Cai from putien😍)
So in love with this crab stick snack - here's a twist: with curry leaves!
$69 decadent log cake to celebrate! Layers of Bailey Irish cream, chocolate fudge sponge, hazelnut nougatine, ivory chocolate, jicama chocolate and dark tropical chocolate. We loved the different layers except for the marshmallow-like texture. Couldn't really taste any Irish cream either.
Close up of the deviled egg my friend made! Half boiled egg, yolk is mixed with a bit of mayo topped with candied bacon. Sprinkled with cinnamon. So gooooooood.
