Old School Excellent Food
This is the only fishballs and meatballs noodle stall here in Bukit Merah view food centre and it’s good. All balls are handmade. Fishballs are crunchy to the nite and the meatballs are well marinated with bits of dry fish used. The noodles are well cooked and chilli sauces well mixed. Can have small bowl of $3 and still get meatballs. Yummy.
This stall has a variety of Cantonese porridge. However chef will make if you request and he has the ingredients like this fish belly and pork porridge. You have to be patient as the chef cooks each porridge individually unlike the mass produced type. Ingredients are freshly added hence each porridge tastes. And if you have ppl who don’t like porridge the fried bee hoon is equally popular. Good fried bee hoon with smooth creamy porridge = yummy!
A simple dinner at Yan is always a delight. Ordered the claypot rice with 2 hours’ notice and it’s just a simple yet tasty meal. The steamed fresh prawns were always a refreshing start. The prawns were sweet in taste and firm in texture. Overall it’s a delicious and filling dinner.
This stall (#02-01 at Hainanese Village Market & Food Centre) has perpetual long queue unless it’s sold out. The stallholders used good quality dark sauce to braised the duck and cook the rice too. This traditional style of cooking and it’s reasonably priced food items made the stall very popular amongst lunch crowd. The meat is tender and tasty as one can smell the good dark sauce used. An interesting item is a big bowl of sambal chilli sauce with lots of ikan billis used by all customers not to eat the duck but to mixed it with the rice! There’s another sour chilli sauce for the duck meat. This is really a great way to eat duck rice. Yummy X 3!
Definitely the better satay bee hoon stalls in Singapore. Very tasty thick gravy with fresh ingredients of cockles, pig liver, pork slices and cuttlefish. Due to the thick slices of ingredients the overall eating experience is super yummy.
This shop used to be opposite Great World City. It’s roast meat is deliciously great. Owner roasts the meat with charcoal giving it a great taste. Must try to believe unless you have remembered them before.
Just for $3 and I get this bowlful of fishballs, meatballs minced meat and fish cake slides. It’s cheap because it no good? NO WAY! It’s better than some stalls selling for the same price but less ingredients. It’s a tummy yummy 😋 😋 😋
Definitely an old school style of steaming with lots of fried pork lard bits. Fresh fish head steamed with bean paste. Only setback is fish head gets cold fast because there’s no warmer. But eating it just out of the kitchen is really great. Tender meat with crunchy lard bits made the mouthful of fish belly tasty.
Love this pancake stall in Lorong Ah Soo FC #02-16. My fav is the peanut filling and it’s not too sweet and lots of peanut bits. The pancake is packed with the filling so every bite you take is sweet crunchy peanut filling inside and soft pastry outside. Really yummy yummy yum yum yum!
If you haven't eaten or love eating Hainanese curry rice try here. It's definitely old school yet tasty for all. Not keen on curry chicken then the braised five layered pork is great too. The queue is never ending till stock is sold out which can be quite early.
If you haven't eaten this before and you like pork chop try it. Good tasty sauce and well cooked pork chops are the key to a super yummy dish. The combination of tomato, green peas and onion make the sauce really yummy. This is truly yummy yummy yum yum yum heritage food.
This stall has maintained its standard even the son has taken over to help. Though it sells only white chicken the queue is never ending till sold out. Meat is succulent and tasty while rice is fragrant and yummy. Must queue to know why the queue never end.
