This post has taken some time because I wanted to articulate my thoughts as clearly as possible.
I believe there are dishes we encounter that for some reason or other, resonate extra strongly with us. And this is something that can strike at anytime, stirring up an emotional response so intense itâs pretty shocking. Perhaps it doesnât happen to everyone. So some/most of you have skipped to the next post (assuming youâve even made it this far) but it happened to me again recently at âLerouyâ.
When I had my first spoonful of the above dish, the second of my five-course lunch ($55++), the flavours had a truly electrifying effect, sending shockwaves from my tastebuds seemingly into my soul. I am not ashamed to say I came very close to tears.
In this creation of âbluefin tuna, yellow curry with dill oil, black pepper purĂ©e, coconut purĂ©e, red pepper puree, seaweed lettuce and rice chipsâ, a tsunami of real magic happened. At least for me it did.
I have no idea if this dish will have such a dramatic effect when I have it again but I hope it will.
Situated in the Bras Basah area, The Betterfield offers truly fine dining quality fare in a relaxed bistro setting. The kitchen is helmed by a chef who has former experience working in several hotel and restaurant kitchens, and the years of experience is evident in the sheer quality of the food served. Try their brunch options such as Eggs Benedict, or their finger food options like truffle fries and their awesome Secret Thai Chilli Chicken. For mains, go for the Duck Confit and the Black Angus Ribeye, which are irresistibly affordable at just $20 nett, yet taste better than equivalents which cost double elsewhere. This place is a true gem!
very soon, you will see snaking queues forming. the food served are excellent. the price, very local. I'll definately return for more.
