This fluffy cupcake had a core of grated coconut and "gula melaka" and was crowned with "pandan" frosting. I can imagine how easy it was for the sweetness to go overboard but it's well controlled here.
Comparisons are inevitable when a Western type of dessert is done with a beloved traditional local dessert flavour. Personally, I thought this was a good effort.
After opening Little Wimbly Lu at Serangoon Gardens, Wimbly Lu had also went on to set up Three Years In A Balloon at Upper Paya Lebar Road. Despite the affiliation, Three Years In A Balloon is not exactly the chocolate specialist that you might have expected; it does more locally-infused desserts and even takes orders for customised cakes! While trying the wide variety of locally-infused cakes, also go for their waffles which is what Wimbly Lu is known for; they serve half portion sizes and does them better than Little Wimbly Lu too (subject to personal opinions). Another spot to hit if you just want to avoid the crowd at Wimbly Lu and even Little Wimbly Lu, for this is not the most convenient spot to hit for a cafe.
This is a new cafe where traditions meet civilization, serving light snacks such as sea salt fries, la coffee wings; old schoolers - butter kaya toasts, half boiled eggs; Asian specials - Curry chicken, Laksa, Siew Mai; and western delights - beef bolognese, potato salad, pancakes and more to expect.
The seafood boil here comes with three levels of spice to choose from: mild, spicy and extra spicy, all if which are rather tame. I expected more heat and Cajun flavours, but the spicy sauce I picked turned out more tomato-ish, almost chilli crab-like - perhaps a reflection of the backing the restaurant has from parent group, Tung Lok?

Panna cotta black sesame pudding served with homemade black sesame ice cream. This came highly recommended.
my mum the hand model.
Yummmmmmmmm those chunks of chocolate
Iron grill waffles of the day was crispy on the outside and mildly chewy on the inside. It's the kind of texture that I like compared to other types. The Hokkaido milk ice cream went well with the waffle and I love the fresh fruits they used. The fried donuts were not as good though, too oily and airy on the inside. The dips I forgot what they were tasted pretty much like condensed milk and apple sauce. Hmmm. They are new so I guess it'll take a bit more time for them to perfect the menu.
The burgers here are a bit of a washout, but the same can't be said for these hand-cut chips jazzed up with spicy bearnaise sauce, beef chilli, shallots, parmesan and sesame seeds. Major yum!

A new spot for a fun night out with good friends over a darn good lobster? Sounds about right. Choose from Live Whole Lobster (steamed or grilled), Lobster Roll or the Chili lobster. Burppler Jasper describes the Lobster Roll as, "π Chunks of marinated lobster flesh (a whole lobster is used) tossed with mayo and chives stuffed between divinely buttery buns. Sorry but I ain't gonna be sharing this next time we're down at #pinceandpints..." At $48++ per dish, this is a good place for a birthday celebrations or date nights!
