All you can eat toppoki at $18.80 per pax? Yes please! Unlike the frozen ones I buy at the supermarket, these toppoki, while obviously defrosted, were very soft and chewy, and there were several varieties to try, including an interesting sweet potato toppoki. Concept-wise, it is similar to how restaurants in Seoul's Tteokbokki Town do it - cook a whole pan of ingredients till bubbling and the sauce thickens, and then dig in. The bonus is that we get to concoct our own toppoki sauce, as well as pick our own ingredients from a variety that includes luncheon meat, cocktail sausages, fish cakes and greens. It's very very filling, so bring one heck of an appetite.

The bonus is that there are eight types of soft and chewy rice cakes to choose from (we love the sweet potato), you get to concoct your own toppoki sauce, as well as pick your own ingredients from a variety that includes luncheon meat, cocktail sausages, fish cakes and greens. Towards the end, hit the rice bar for a portion of rice, corn, kimchi, seaweed and sesame oil to stir into the remaining sauce for super delish kimchi fried rice. Pro tip: Leave your favourite top at home. The constantly bubbling pan equals splash galore.

The newly-revamped Straits Cuisine buffet at Orchard Cafe comes from a passionate chef eager to showcase the dishes of his heritage. Highlights include the steamed Black Cod Otah, and Ayam Buah Keluak. Fantastic non-Peranakan dishes include Kong Ba Pao, Roast Pork Belly and Oyster Omelette. Finish off with cold Durian Pengat and the Chempedak, Durian and Peanut crepes made a la minute. Enjoy lunch at $48++, or dinner at $68++.
