Art of Cold Brew
Really quite impressed with their white Cold Brew here — there's certainly a balance between coffee and milk for it's a smooth, creamy concoction amidst the caffeine with just the right proportion of sweetness. Pretty good!
There may not be espresso-based coffees available at Five Ten, but they do have quite a range of slightly different coffee options including these Cold Brews to pick from. Brewed using a custom blend specially roasted for them by Two Degrees North Coffee Co., the Cold Brew takes three days to brew; the White Cold Brew brewed only using milk and coffee with no added sugar and preservatives while the Brown Cold Brew is a concoction of White Cold Brew and their homemade chocolate sauce. Between the two, I probably am biased towards the Brown Cold Brew for its hint of chocolate at the front, before transiting into a nutty, caffeinated flavour for its finish — it is also pretty balanced without being overly sweet, but still chocolatey enough for a Mocha-inspired drink. The White Cold Brew is still pretty good on its own; creamy, nutty and pretty soothing to drink without being anywhere sweet.
Prodigal Roasters has put their Cold Brew into their menu — there are options for 2 shots, 3 shots and 4 shots of espresso in their bottled cold brew; the Magic being the 2 shots variant. A pretty milky and creamy concoction with a light, nutty finish — pretty intrigued with how the other two variants would taste like especially with the additional shots of espresso.
From this relatively new spot name The Kave situated right beside Craftsmen Speciality Coffee at Siglap V, though it seems to be around for quite a while.
The cold brew here is actually considerably rich as compared to those of other spots; creamy, nutty and carries a hint of chocolatey sweetness within that was more affordable when had alone rather than with ice — pretty decent and better than some attempts I have tasted. That being said, the interior seemed a tad haphazard; most noticeably are the double-stacked chairs for counter seats (which makes up most of its seating) because the original chairs are too low for the tables. Also wished they had a more inspiring and bigger range of food as well.
Brewed and supplied by 1degreeC Cold Brew Coffee, both the White and Black cold brew are available at Loloku, a new Poké Bar and Deli that replaces Lollapalooza.
Can't deny how creamy and rich this is for how velvety smooth each sip is but it's possibly the worst Cold Brew I have ever had till date. Just acidic and intensely sour (possibly spoilt) — makes one cringe from sourness just by a single mouthful. Could not carry on after the first sip; doesn't even take a coffee lover for one to tell how bad this is.
From Wildseed; one of the three concepts (the other being Summerhouse Bistro & Bar and Summerhouse Restaurant; the latter officially opens 28 December) at The Summerhouse situated at The Oval at Seletar Aerospace Park. Wildseed is the cafe concept where only cakes, pastries and desserts would be available alongside coffee by the Nomad The Gallant Coffee Roasters.
Looking pretty legit but definitely not the best cold brew I have had of the late — tasted bland and terribly watered down with a weak flavour of coffee lingering at the end. Would go for their hot coffee anytime than this.
I think part of the draw that made me come was actually the aluminum bottle which it is bottled with — being a bottle-hoarder of the late.
Not to be confused as Cold Brew, Mellower Coffee's Cold Dutch Iced Drip is actually extracted from a method that is slightly different from the usual cold brew (those whom are familiar with the coffee from The Pound or Boyle's Coffee would know). By default, coffee extracted from this method carries a fuller body that is tangier and brighter even though if the beans carry caramel, cocoa and nutty flavour profiles like this one, which comes with a little sweetness as well as a bit richer from the milk. Pretty worth trying.
Made a trip down East for they seem to be selling iced coffee in a bottle. The iced coffee here is more milkier at the start, though there is still a lingering taste of smooth coffee towards the end.
Earl Grey Chiffon was decently spongy and light, perfuming of light Earl Grey aroma which is great for a light tea-time accompaniment to a cup of coffee.
Quite another wave of places that have started Cold Brew and Atlas Coffeehouse is one of them. Visited on the day where they first launched it — a pretty solid bottle of cold brew here if you are into Cold Brew as a beverage. The one here comes sweetened; a little reminiscent to those from Old Hen but a degree sweeter yet carrying a cocoa-like body in the middle and is smooth and creamy. Would probably appeal to those who generally don't take coffee due to its general flavour profile.
Found out that they were opened during the weekend and decided to drop by just to grab a Cold Brew before heading for lunch nearby. Again, it's a good balance of flavours here that wasn't exactly too milky without being sweet though I would prefer it a bit more punchier but it's definitely a lot better off than a lot of diluted and bland versions around of the late. Works great as a mid-day cold coffee treat for the working crowds in Buona Vista; shall try the Flat White if I am around the area again soon!
From Keffie, newly set-up within the shop space of Squeezed at Metropolis (takes over a hotdog specialty shop) located near the vehicle drop-off area of Metropolis. They have Black and White Cold Brews available but it's probably the first time I have ever heard of a Mocha Cold Brew — this seriously works if you are the sort who prefers a little sweetness in white Cold Brews so it doesn't taste exceptionally bland or weak. The chocolate added to the cold brew gives it a slight yet suitable level of sweetness with a more creamier, velvety texture for the drink. They also have cakes stored in their freezer, though seating is limited to those outside Squeezed.
They definitely have changed the bottles but not sure if they seemed to have changed the recipe as well? This bottle felt less sweet than what I remembered it to be with a lighter coffee taste as well — still a good beverage but it seems to lacks a bit of the punch of the usual standard somehow ...
