Expect to queue on the weekends at this alluring establishment, and be prepared for a great meal. For something different, go for the Turkish Full Breakfast. If you like your runny eggs (of course you do), go for the poached organic eggs sitting atop braised ox cheeks, or the swoon-worthy Croque Monsieur. Finish off with a coffee, cider, or glass of white wine. Don't expect the usual cafe prices! Photo by Huixuan Tan
Eggs Benedict with a twist! Poached egg on juicy steak with fluffy muffin and yummy spicy roasted potatoes!
On the same day that I went to "the lokal" to try and satisfy my craving (which I didn't manage to....) I ended up at drury lane.... Because they served banana bread with espresso butter ($2.5), different version as compared to the lokal but it was really good. It was moist and full of banana flavor and the espresso butter was just unique??? ๐๐ And as I was having too much sweets, I wanted something savory and I went for Cloud 9.4 ($12) - bacon infused fluffy pancakes with honey!! The pancake was pretty good with small stripes of bakkwa like bacon inside, not too bad really! And I had a latte! (They are using Papa Palheta's nuts and bolts) don't mind the art, their coffee is good!! Anyway, they do not have service charge nor gst and THEY OFFER FREE WIFI ๐๐๐
Oz Specialty Coffee works hand in hand with Thailand's largest boutique coffee roaster, Pacamara, offering Pacamara's exceptional roasted coffee on a fixed basis. They sometimes feature other guest blends from time to time too. If the weather's too hot for a hot coffee, go for their bottled cold brew - it's much less acidic and is the perfect thirst quencher. If you have any questions about coffee, they'll be more than happy to answer them!
Monday morning and I feel like I need a little sugar to get my system running. Colouring aside, this layered red velvet cake with a middle of cream cheese and topping of white chocolate swirls is pretty rad.
If you thought Tiong Bahru had enough cafes, you thought wrong. With the opening of Whisk and their signature lemon meringue tart, you'd be glad that this cafe has joined the party. As Burpple Tastemaker Chua Xing Wei remarks, "Lemon curd was tangy enough but still maintained a bit of egginess for a bit of sweetness. Fluffy torched meringue was not cloying sweet and added a subtle sweetness to the tart." Located right opposite Tiong Bahru Market, you'd want to add this place to your cafe-hopping list of the area. Make sure you try their macarons, lemon tarts, and cheesecakes!
Dessert-lovers rejoice - Kki is finally open after their 8-month hiatus, and in a more convenient location to boot! Grab a cuppa to go with your stunning cake, and relax in this lovely space. Go for the Onigri, a Basil Dark Chocolate mousse cake with a Bitter Orange soft-core centre.
Made another journey to the West in between my work. Ordered the afternoon tea break special for the Strawberry banana waffles with salted caramel ice cream ($9.00) and extra scoops of vanilla ice cream ($4.00), because the weather was simply too hot!
Finally made my way to Oblong for the highly raved Red Velvet Waffles!
Another waffle found! Waffle with Fruits of the day and Gelato ($7.90)
Belgian waffle with banana, drizzled with homemade chocolate sauce and topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream ($9.90) and completed with a cup of Lavender Tea Latte - Ceylon black tea with lavender flower topped with cute elephant frothed milk ($4.90)
